So if a player got a free dinner from an agent before he came to school, the coach should be suspended for the season?

If a coach is caught giving 100 grand to a player to secure a commitment, it should also be a year suspension?

Why is Deandre Ayton going for 18 boards yesterday? Didn't he take 100k?

I'm not sure "edgy" is right. Practical is more appropriate.

College recruiting violations are about on par with Slick Willie's sexual activity. Hacking people to death or starting a war isn't. It's just blatantly stupid to make such an equation.

Just read the article : he said he didn't take money... So Miller looks like the idiot in that, his career is over.

Was the coach involved in the player/agent transaction?

Yes.

Yeah initial reporting was poor it looks like.

It's still crazy... Sean Miller makes $5MM/year. What's he need with the 100 grand?

No they weren't.

Is "violations" declaring war or hacking people to death with a machete? You're looking dumber with every post.

Then the player is suspended for a year. What are you misunderstanding?

Actually, I'm kinda digging MikeT's blanket penalty for any ruling breaking. Seems simple and straightforward.

Drunk driving - a year in prison.
Hit and run - a year in prison.
Drive 10 miles over the speed limit - a year in prison.
Jay walking - a year in prison.

Laws are laws people!

Are you going down the "breaking laws" = "college recruiting violations"?

Because, if you are, you're entering npb's "War" = "college recruiting violations" territory. And I hope you know that's stupid.

To the best of my knowledge, the NCAA does not create "laws". That's kinda a government thing.

Oh okay, nothing to do with laws, just institutional rules. So let's compare them to rules for High School.

Skip class - suspended for the year.
Get in a fight with another student - suspended for the year.
Tardy for home room - suspended for the year.
Use vulgar language at a teacher- suspended for a year.

Rules are rules!

I just want Calipari to finally get caught. If Miller is plotting, ...

Sure. Zero tolerance is a great deterrent for aberrant behavior.

Do you disagree?
