Waive a player with options? Topic

Newbie question. I have a vet with low patience and a significant salary (~$5M) that I would like to waive to see if there is anyone willing to take on his salary. Have tried the trade route. Just not sure if waiving a player with options is possible ...

If you can't waive them outright, you can designate them for assignment (with waivers) assuming he's on the 40-man roster.

Thanks. He’s on the 40. I may end up going that route. Just hoping to avoid a demotion hit. He’s solid enough (and young enough in his career) that he’s likely of use for another team, but not good enough to be in trade demand. Thanks again.
