Who is the best defender, the one that will most disrupt scoring, steals included.

#2 ATH 72 SPD 91 DEF 54
#3 ATH 60 SPD 55 DEF 90

Which one do you pick since none is the real stopper and you need to not bleed too much.

Assuming this is for a guard, what set?

I probably slot #2 highest for press, though #1 would certainly be acceptable at the D2 level. #3 would not be ideal for man or press, but would work well in a zone or press/zone, especially if you can play him at the 3 in a 3-2.

I don’t play any man, but #1 would probably be a half-notch above #2 for man, IMO.

2 is probably better than 3 overall because of that ATH/SP affecting other parts of the game, however.

I'd probably take #1 in any defensive system. All else being equal.

I think #1 is always the best.

#2 would probably get more steals in a press but 1 is always the best

I went with #1 and it did impact the defense. I was going 2 for a while with press... He came off the bench. 3 remained at the SF spot as a back-up.
