there's several people that I'm surprised haven't been picked. Part of that is having been away for a while. Part of it is ... people.

Two should be fairly glaring

I mean, there are at least 6 guys I can immediately name that were round 2 guys in the past that might not even get drafted anymore. Bill Russell is one that never used to make it past the first half of round 2 but literally just got taken late in round 3.

He ADP is fairly high. But the eFG is tough to swallow and his defensive ratings are stupid. It’s just easier to build with other big men even if they are lower minutes.

I actually feel like the worm went a little high - not because he's a bad pick per se but because of budgetary concerns - cheap boards are always available later and 9m is a lot if you're going to use that top season and the #4 is too high if you're going to use a lesser one
The issue is more generating enough threes and assists if you play him at the three. This issue only really presents itself with Rodman in a draft league. There are some big men in a league like this who are lightly picked because of their weak boards but have good perimeter shooting and usage. If you can pair them with Rodman you can make it work.
that's kind of the point tho - with the 4th pick you kind of want to address more things

his sole 90 d season has such a low usage who cares about the efg? else you get a pretty decent combo of good things and the minutes are decent per dollar too but yeah there are plenty of bigs I'd take before that season too

my point was how much things have changed; not an argument for him being drafted higher.

Yeah. I think mid to late third is about right.

I think a couple other omissions thus far are just due to the increased knowledge that high usage players with high mid% put you in a box.

I've literally never had the opportunity to make a team around him, so hard to really say, but I feel like I could put together a championship contender with his 3300 minute season rather easily.

you maybe - but all too often I see the classic mistake of resting on laurels and not doubling down on boards at other positions (happens with Wilt too) maybe because of the money already spent on that
3/17/2018 11:45 PM
That is who I wanted.

I agree with the draft position thing - about right for Russell (as he's currently configured)

someone needs to take this chalice from my lips so I can go back to my original plan
