Is there a way BESIDES the update email to tell if a recruit was ineligible and then gained eligibility?

With my UNC team I signed 1 ineligible recruit, but I am 95% positive I was recruiting 2 ineligible players. Don't remember getting an email saying someone passed the test, but i've deleted all emails so no way of checking.

I dont think there is any trace of prior ineligible status once he passes - you could look at high school gpa's - low GPAs correlate with being ineligible, but it wont tell you whether he was or wasnt

If you keep all of your emails from the AD you could comb through those to see if he became eligible at some point. Granted, you'd have only gotten an email if you had him color-coded on your priority recruiting list.
