Does Fielding or Range determine passed balls? Topic

Does Fielding or Range determine passed balls at Catcher? Like how would Lou Boudreau do at catcher minus all the SBs he’ll give up?

Fielding. Range matters exactly zero for catchers.

Makes sense, I just figured Range would help prevent wild pitches. But passed balls are completely different, so it makes sense it’s fielding

Catcher's range is like Candy Crush on your wedding night. Doesn't matter.

hey booger where you been i not seen or talked to you in a long time was thinking that you dont play any more

Actually, I have seen a couple of plus plays by catchers, so range does have a process role to play but it is essentially inconsequential.

I believe range is factored in on bunts and potentially foul pop ups. That being said, the impact is minimal
