If in doubt, blame Bud Selig.

I do.

As if I didn't hate Facebook enough. The Blue Jays game today (starting right now) is only available there. You need a Facebook account to watch; fine, I've never had one, but my wife is letting me use hers. I log in. Go to the MLB Live link. Get directed to another site, and that site wants my credit card info. Doesn't want to charge me anything -- just, you know, for "verification purposes." No thanks.

Screw Facebook.

Oh, and screw MLB too for making this deal. What a great time to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg. What's next, a movie deal with Harvey Weinstein? Vitamin deal with Martin Shkreli?
crazystengel, it is more than worth the $100 a year it costs to pay mlbtv.com to watch ever MLB game available. Don't watch baseball on Facebook.

I don't want to do anything on Facebook! But other than playoffs I'm not that interested in watching entire games not involving my home team, and I can watch about 95% of my home team's games on TV as it is.

Check out the wheels on this pitcher!

And Dee Gordon stole 60 bases last season!

Brandon Belt's 21-pitch at-bat against Jaime Barria today

Apparently that's the record for most pitches in one at-bat since MLB started keeping track 30 years ago. Belt was in the batter's box for just under 13 minutes.

Barria needed 49 pitches to get out of the inning. Didn't give up a run, though!

Definitely the "post-modern" record. Luke Appling supposedly hit 24 foul balls off Red Ruffing in one at bat during a game in 1940, but I don't think anyone was keeping track and most baseball historians doubt if it was really that many.

Foul, Ball, Strike swinging, Foul, Foul, Ball, Foul, Foul, Ball, Pickoff attempt, Foul, Pickoff attempt, Foul, Foul, Foul, Foul, Foul, Pickoff attempt, Foul, Foul, Foul, Pickoff attempt, Foul, Foul, Belt lined out to right.

Belt's at-bat set an MLB record for pitches in an at-bat, breaking previous mark of 20 pitches between Rickey Gutierrez and Bartolo Colon on June 26, 1998.

BRANDON DRURY = THE NEW WALLY PIPP.

Andujar is eating AL pitching alive so far.
4/24/2018 8:31 AM
I watched Andujar crush it against my Blue Jays this weekend. Went 7-for-12 with 3 doubles and a HR. And yesterday I see he went 2/5 with a double and HR against the Twins. He looks like the real deal. Bondsian!

New-timey vs. Old-timey

Four weeks into the season, and there have been three complete games total thrown by starting pitchers.

Ted Lyons threw 28 consecutive complete games at the very end of his career (he retired at age 45).

Believe It or Don't!

Bartolo Colon with a solid start against the Blue Jays today (7 innings, 3 runs allowed) picks up his 241st career win, tying him for 55th all time with HOF'er Herb Pennock. Next up: HOF'er Juan Marichal with 243 wins.

Colon flashing some leather

Spot quiz: Colon has now won games with 11 different major league franchises. What three pitchers share that record with him?

Octavio Dotel, Mike Morgan, and...can't even think of who might be third. Bobo Newsom?

Alan Embree is my best guess
