This theme is an oldie but a goodie. I thought I would resurrect it and see who's interested!
Welcome to the long-delayed 11th season of this theme. If you like to challenge your drafting skills, this is for you! I've divided the letters of the alphabet (minus Q and X) into three groups.
The most common (A - E - I - N - O - R- S - T)
The next-most common (C - D - F - H - L - M - P - U)
The least common (B - G - J - K - V - W - Y - Z)
Below are several combinations of these letters, one from each group. You select any group of letters below and build a team of players whose names use these letters. For example, let's say you choose RCW.
Six players on your team must have names that use all three letters. Examples: Buck Weaver, Mordecai Brown, Christy Mathewson.
Six players must use the first two letters: R - C (but no W). Ex: Rick Monday, Roger Clemens, Ichiro Suzuki.
Six players must use the first and third letters: R - W (but no C). Ex: Kevin Brown, David Wright, Larry Bowa.
Six players must use the second and third letters: C - W (but no R). Ex: Cy Williams, Willie McCovey, Skip Lockwood.
Your 25th player may fall into any of the above categories you choose. Your stadium must use at least two of your letters. Ex. Comerica Park, Fenway Park, Network Associates Coliseum. And your team name should use your letters as initials. Ex. Ride West Cowboys, Corn Row Wearers, Wild & Crazy Rambos.
Cap is $120 million. No WW, no clones, no trades, no DH. 6/2 random AAA. Live play allowed, next series only. Any player from any era is available. Divisions will be aligned randomly. If an owner takes two teams, we'll randomly realign until all those teams are in separate leagues.
This will make you look at players as you've never looked at them before, and maybe allow you to try some players you're not used to using. Letters may appear more than once (see Larry Bowa above). Names must be used as they appear in WIS. No expanding into Michael Jack Schmidt or George Herman Ruth...it's Mike & Babe. Carl Yastrzemski and Fernando Valenzuela never looked so good.
