Does anyone know why Otto Hess has an OF season in 1905 but not a pitching season? He started 25 games and logged 213 innings with some solid stats. His hitting stats are not good that year.

Because he appeared in 28 games as an OF, only 26 as a pitcher. His primary position wasn't as a pitcher.

Look up 1888 Bob Caruthers...almost 400 innings of 0.99WHIP, but is a .230 hitting outfielder...what a waste...but the Sim goes by usage(games played at a position), not what they were better at. There are several wasted deadball seasons.

Perhaps in a future update we will have access to his arm. It would be beneficial in progressive leagues, that's for sure...

I did send Seble a ticket about an add on for a future update...

Ya it seems dumb to not have both. Give people the option.

Honestly. Players with eligible pitching seasons should be pitchers. Then you add the ability to put a pitcher in your starting lineup at any position (lot of deadball pitchers have A OF range) and problem fixed

Let's hope Ohtani's 2018 season is the impetus for WIS to finally recognize, and give full value to, these two-way players.

Question is, how? In Yahoo Fantasy Sports they've got two Ohtanis, a pitcher and a hitter (i.e., it's possible to own one but not the other). I wouldn't mind if WIS had that option, but I'd prefer (especially for prog leagues) if they also combined them.

In addition to the players mentioned above there's also the Babe Ruth of 1918-19, whose pitching stats are currently excluded. 1918 especially was a nice year for him on the mound, 166 IP (over 200 IP extrapolated over a 162 game season), allowed just 1 HR, WHIP of 1.05, ERA+ of 122. Wouldn't it be great to combine that with his hitting stats of 1918?

Yep, also would need to separate pitching fatigue and batting fatigue. Otherwise you could take a great hitting pitcher who never played the field and put him in right field every game he wasn't pitching.

Would be cool if they did implement something like that. It would probably require a complete redo of the player salaries, but we're overdue for something like that anyway.

In the mean time, it wouldn't be difficult to simply add the pitching season for someone like Hess. Then people in progs can choose if they want him as a pitcher or an OFer.
