Here's a review of the two available teams:
NL WEST
Former
Omaha Franchise (66-96, 3rd)
.
This team had an owner for 42 seasons before last yrs one done. After 2 first place finishes last years drop to 66 wins was a major disappointment for the fan base. Jose Guerrero (119 Runs, 21 HR, 73 RBI, .299) makes the offense go. While 3 other players smacked over 20 HRs and the team batting avg was a decent .262, the offense could use a couple of bats with pop that also know how to produce solid OBP.
The staff is heavy on relievers but no one able to get them into a game on the line on a regular basis. The 3 best pitchers are in the pen so the priority will be to add some starters that can hand over a lead for the to close out.
While it's necessary to add some players to both the position players and pitching staff there are some pieces in place to build with.
NL NORTH
Former
Trenton Franchise (83-79, 3rd)
A team that had the same owner from season 7-45 is looking for a new direction. It's a team that has been over .500 each of the last 5 seasons. The offense hit .256 as a team. In an interesting twist though they had 4 players (Seth George,Jaff Gwynn, JP Teheran, Zachary Piazza) crossing the plate on a regular basis. Another table setter and some more power would go a long way towards helping this team battle for the division title.
The pitching staff is lead by Ace, Jimmie Castillo (18-7, 2.77), and closer, Vidal Santos (33/39, 2.34). The team ERA was a solid 4.26 but adding another starter and a couple of consistent arms to the bullpen.
An owner should have a relatively easy job of taking this team up a notch or two with a few key acquisitions.
