WAITLIST! Inaugural "Common Man" League Topic

I've always wanted to put together a team of "common" players, but I also hate small cap leagues with no-name guys. So, here's making the best of both worlds.

The Inaugural "Common Man" League

Create a team that excludes anybody with the following credentials:
1) Hall of Fame
2) 3-time (or more) All-Star

Anybody else is fair to take, from the years 1933-present. Why 1933? Well, that was the year of the first All-Star game.

The salary cap will be $120 Million. You can have a great team - just no Hall of Famers or superstars.

Use any stadium in use 1933-present. No Clones. No WW/Trades/AAA. DH - YES!

Use Baseball-Reference.com to check your players.
Here's a few examples, easily identified by choosing a player and looking at the top-middle of their player page:

Hank Aaron ..... Hall of Fame, 25X All-Star .... Definitely NOT ELIGIBLE!
Luke Appling .....
Hall of Fame, 7X All-Star ..... NOT ELIGIBLE!
Brady Anderson .....
3X All-Star ..... NOT ELIGIBLE!
Elvis Andrus .....
2X All-Star .... ELIGIBLE!
Glenn Abbott .....
Neither ..... ELIGIBLE!

Like the concept but - in my opinion- the Salary cap seems about 20 million too high to be consistent with the theme. I'll try to build a team in any case and see what I come up with

I'll play.

I just can't stand low-cap leagues. I see no point to the HOF or superstar restrictions, because in a low-cap league you can't afford them anyway. This allows for good players, just not the game's super elite. When I put together my team, there were some guys I use a lot, and others that I never use. We'll see you it comes out!

Welcome guys!

Count this commoner in. I'll play.

You could take it a step further and exclude any players that's won a major award like MVP, Cy Young, ROY. World Series & LCS MVP may be taking it too far however!

I will play.

As to the above suggestion, perhaps in subsequent seasons you blacklist award winners from the previous season...

I entered my team. I ended up using 4 player seasons that I frequently use, 12 that I occasionally use, and 9 that I have never used before at any cap. I've played a lot of high caps and a lot of low caps, and I think that a league that has me picking 9 players I've never used is guaranteed to keep me interested. That said, if there are subsequent seasons, the idea of blacklisting award winners could be fun.

That was my first thought about this league that we would get to use players that we normally never even consider.

Count me in either way. Blacklisting award winners is a neat idea but could really limit the player pool down the road.

I sense this league will feature a lot of active players, or more recent players that aren't in the HOF, yet.
