I've always wanted to put together a team of "common" players, but I also hate small cap leagues with no-name guys. So, here's making the best of both worlds.
The Inaugural "Common Man" League
Create a team that excludes anybody with the following credentials:
1) Hall of Fame
2) 3-time (or more) All-Star
Anybody else is fair to take, from the years 1933-present. Why 1933? Well, that was the year of the first All-Star game.
The salary cap will be $120 Million. You can have a great team - just no Hall of Famers or superstars.
Use any stadium in use 1933-present. No Clones. No WW/Trades/AAA. DH - YES!
Use Baseball-Reference.com to check your players. Here's a few examples, easily identified by choosing a player and looking at the top-middle of their player page:
Hank Aaron ..... Hall of Fame, 25X All-Star .... Definitely NOT ELIGIBLE!
Luke Appling ..... Hall of Fame, 7X All-Star ..... NOT ELIGIBLE!
Brady Anderson ..... 3X All-Star ..... NOT ELIGIBLE!
Elvis Andrus ..... 2X All-Star .... ELIGIBLE!
Glenn Abbott ..... Neither ..... ELIGIBLE!
