60 Years of Gold Gloves- 1957-2017 - $100M - FULL Topic

MLB122047

Choose an EXCLUSIVE league and season from 1957-2017 (e.g. 1971 NL or 2015 AL). You must then roster exactly 5 gold glove winners from that league and season, no twists on those 5 gold glovers. Here are the links with all gold gloves:

AL = https://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/gold_glove_al.shtml
NL = https://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/gold_glove_nl.shtml

Then fill out the rest of your roster with teammates from your 5 gold glover teams, twisted to any season of their career.

Notes:
- in the case where there are multiple gold glove winners on the same team, you ARE allowed to use a gold glover as a teammate, even if you choose not to twist that teammate to a different season. So technically you could end up with more than 5 GGs on your roster in this scenario.
- there is no min or max requirement on number of teammates you twist from each of your 5 teams.

Cap: $100M
Standard 24 team league
NO: Clones, DH, WW, AAA, Trades, or Injuries
Ballpark: any park used during the season you chose
Alignment: Random
Team name: reference your year and league

Please reserve a spot by reply in this thread with your exclusive choice of league and year, and list your 5 gold glovers.

Cool theme. Count me in. Team - TBD.

Please note I updated the theme so you only need to select 5 gold gloves from your season/league. The original rule was too restrictive for building a roster, especially position players. Selecting 5 should give us plenty of options.

I'll give it a go with 1977 NL...thx

Question. Can you roster more than 5 if you wish and then be able to use twists from all gold glover's teams?

Hmmm, good question, but I think for this iteration we'll say no. . . .you must roster exactly 5 gold glovers and then you can only twist from those 5 teams.

I'll play. AL 1957

Followup question.

I pick 5 gold glovers but I realize two play for the same team. So to maximize my twist opportunities, I change one of those gold glovers to a different guy (so I now have five teams to choose from). Since the gold glover I dropped is a teammate of one of the gold glovers I selected, I am now allowed to twist this other gold glover. Do I have to twist him or can I keep the same year (i.e., in effect, selecting 6 gold glovers)?

In that case you can keep him the same season, so yes in effect you could end up with more than 5 gold glovers on your team in a scenario such as this.

I'll take a shot at this... my first build will be the 1997 NL Gold Glovers.

Additional question: Do we have to have any particular number of twisted teammates, or can I theoretically twist just one team?

No min or max on the number of teammates from each of your 5 teams. You are correct, you could theoretically only twist teammates from 1 of the 5 teams.

If 2 teams are allowed, I'll drop a 2nd team in 1967 AL...thx

Absolutely no problem, thanks craig!

Please post your 5 gold gloves once you know them. . . that will help me out with verifying rosters later, thanks. Here are mine:

1999 AL
1B - Rafael Palmeiro - Tex
SS - Omar Vizquel - Cle
OF - Shawn Green - Tor
OF - Ken Griffey Jr. - Sea
OF - Bernie Williams - NYY

I'm going to have to make major concessions somewhere to get under $100M, these guys are all expensive.
