This would be fun to try on HBD but you physically can't do it because SP requires 40 pitch minimum. And also you can't move the ball around prior to a start, it's locked onto the next guy in order

I've done what I think is a somewhat close variant for the past few seasons with my Twins team, to the extent HBD permits it (because of the limitations you mention).

In the HBD works, a primary benefit can be a boost vs teams that platoon heavily and unevenly.
