Legit gamble for my Nuggets. I haven't seen Porter play, but it sounds like he comes with baggage - durability concerns, technical problems, motivation issues. Based on all the scouting reports, my thought is the boy will be fine if he just gets some Ritalin or Adderall.

But my hunch is he's a better fit in the NBA at PF rather than SF, which just adds to what is already an untenable logjam on the Nuggets' roster. Move Faried's expiring contract and still-useful offensive rebounding. Max out Jokic, and hope either that someone has a breakthrough season or that an albatross lands on them and they end up in good draft position next summer. I think they have a ways to go.

Agreed. They took a flier on a guy who plays a position at which Denver is pretty deep at the moment, and they got him at a point in the draft where the "doesn't pan out" rate is pretty high. I think they couldn't reasonably not grab him.

I think they got one of the best talents in the draft way later than he should have gone.

Obvious health caveat.
