Generally if you lie to someone, they are not positively motivated, either in GD or real life.

Yes, his WE will tank.

Only if they know it ET. Only if they know it.
Your wife says to you "Do I look good in this dear" ?
Now you know this makes her look fat(ter ?) and brings out the red in her zits.
But do you tell her the truth ?
Hell No !
"Makes you look gorgeous mi amour" ! Because you don't want to wait a year till your next "good time" .

You can promise PT and redshirt with no ill effect. I do that at least twice a season on each of my teams.

Wait, really? So then will he hold you to the PT in his redshirt freshman year?

This used to be the deal years ago, everyone promised starts and playing time to the three guys they knew they would redshirt and there was no penalty.

I thought it had changed with the update to 3.0

If I promise a recruit 35% playing time as a FR and then red-shirt him, is there a negative effect on WE?
No. If you promised him a start, you’d have issues though

No, he won't hold you to it when he is a RS Fr.

This is pretty much the biggest secret in recruiting. I just figured it out a few months ago because someone posted it in another thread. If you are planning to redshirt someone, you should absolutely offer them 75% PT as a freshman. You will get a nasty email from the recruit, but his WE will remain unchanged.

Just don't promise them a freshman start.

This hasn't been my experience with it. I've missed the PT promise by as little as 2% and seen them drop WE.

Yeah, you have to redshirt them. If you play them, they need hit the % or they will lose WE. I've actually had players I promised complain and lose WE when they were right at the exact number, so you need to be over.

***Not 100% sure on this next strategy, but I believe it works***

If a player doesn't play at all in a particular game, it doesn't impact their total % of plays for the season.
So, if a player plays 100% of plays in the first game season, they will be at 100% (obviously).
Then if the same player plays 0% in Game 2, they will stay at 100%.
As long as they don't play at all they will stay 100%.
Be careful though, because if they accidentally get into 1 or 2 plays the percentage will plummet.

** I haven't actually tried this over a full season, but I have heard from others that it works. I'm not trying to screw anyone. **

Apparently I need to learn some of these loopholes so I can improve my "coaching skill"
