When Darrel Porter was taken Last round, what other Royals catcher was I Seriously, going to Use as my Main catcher... Mike Macfarlane, John Wathan, Ed Kirkpatrick, Fran Healy, Bob Boone, Jim Sundberg, Brett Mayne, Sal Fasano, Bob Stinson... Salvy Perez was the ONLY full time catcher left from the Royals, I had NO choice, I HAD to Protect him, or lose him? I just wish I could use his 2018 season, 48% SB thrown out, Beat THAT! The rest of the league Knew DONT STEAL ON SALVY, half the time... your gonna LOSE? It's like trying to Intimidate Bob Gibson, Nolan Ryan or Randy Johnson, It's NOT a wise move! It's like they DIDn't learn in the 20's or 30's - DONT PITCH TO BABE RUTH. Whoops???

The issue is not 'you needed him'...

The issue is, he isn't 'steal worthy'...No point protecting someone that nobody wants, no matter how much you need him...

Also there are multiple seasons in that string of catchers you listed that would be better than anything Salvador Perez could trot out even in the off chance he got drafted (he wouldn't) because Perez's bat is going to struggle mightily. You know who you can't throw out? Jason Giambi doing a home run trot.
