Wait does HBD actually take into account handedness in fielding?
Oh my yes. Go find a lefty 2B and look at his - stats.

Or your team’s number of double plays.

Here's one example. Perfect stats for a killer defensive 2b...except left handed. Sitting at 24 bad plays on the season. I feel like you rarely see lefty throwers with the middle infield skillset too.

I've never paid attention to a lefty at 3rd what affect does it have? But then again he does not hit great for 3rd either and definitely not good enough for a corner outfield spot unless you have good hitting at cf and 2nd already.

You have two players who can play CF/2B - both righties. One has a clear advantage in range and glove- where do you put that player? CF or 2B? I have generally put my better fielder in Center but obviously 2B gets more action.

Right now I have a 86/92/56/61 in CF and a 76/75/56/57 at 2B. SS is 86/88/96/88 ; LF is 72/89/61/70 (Lefty) and RF is 58/58/72/53 if that helps. My pitching staff ranks near the top in GB/FB ratio at 1.29 so I'm thinking about swapping the two but worried about the lack of range in CF, although that LF should help a little.

76/75 in CF will kill you. You will not be pleased with the results.

Here's a lefty 3B/SS. Note-- I didn't play him there... I moved him to CF with a range of 78, which also didn't go super well.

Alex Matos was a starting 3B for 6 consecutive seasons with ratings of Range 81/Glove 80/AS 81/AA 79. In a righty those would yield about 15-20 (+) plays per season... for Matos, they yielded 11.5 (-) plays per 162 games, costing something like 30 plays per season. Didn't seem to affect his errors much.

For humor value, you can look at his numbers at SS, where he started before his ratings were mature.

I have experimented with moving an élite defender to 2B behind my pitchers with GB/FB > 90 (and CF otherwise). I don't think it did much of anything... if you decide to try it, move your LF to CF and play your 2B at LF. But frankly I'd just keep him in CF.

Curious. What is the highest someone ever drafted a bullpen guy? I feel like that area of my team is lacking but can’t justify it at the 8th overall pick

This is something I love knowing owners think. I believe you've got one job in round 1 of the draft, find a guy who's going to be a long term member of your 25 man roster, and that includes your bullpen. If I know the guys in the top 15 are thinking it's too high for a RP, that means I have a shot at getting an elite RP with my 24th pick.

I just look for anyone who can play for sure at the ml level or someone I can trade I do not care about position.

When I'm ranking I downgrade relievers compared to starters, and potentially to some position players as well. But if a reliever is the best player in the draft-- if he helps me win more in his 300 batters faced than anyone else in the draft with 600 plate appearances or 1000 batters faced (SP)-- then he gets ranked first.

I’m guilt of this for sure. I usually try to have my top 20 pick either be a player who starts or a SP. it’s hard for me to justify a bench guy or a bullpen guy that early in the draft. That being said, that has lead me to drafting a lot of duds and missing out on a lot of good players

What are the most ridiculous numbers you have ever seen anyone put up in the minors? 80 home runs? 100? 200 RBI's? Avg of .500?

I have a guy who I think can get to 60 SB and 60 homers in AAA of a very proper world.
