2018-19 player seasons Topic

Here's a stat:

19 of those were added since 16-17.
10 are from 18-19, no doubt due to the increase in pace, including:

I mean, it is really their data provider (regarding the positional stuff). It isn't like WiS can have someone doing this by hand. It's hard to get right unless you are watching every minute of every game.

Basketball Reference, which is the GOAT, even f*s this up. They list Ben Simmons as playing 80% of his minutes at PG which doesn't make sense.

Embiid will get a bump when the awards come out.

82 games is a good source of 5 on the floor data

but I'd put making all of Bill Russell's seasons 100 D by hand (and the 5 minutes that would take) ahead of worrying about Ben Simmons's positional viability as a priority at this point any way

I really can't imagine a logical explanation for a formula that spits out some of these positional eligibilities. What in god's name could make Joe Ingles 99% or better at the 1-4 while Ben is only over 97% at PG? And what about Giannis? His 16-17 season was 100% at SF/PF, 98% at SG/C, and 96% at PG. Two years later, his 18-19 season is 100% at PF/C, only 92% at SF (??????), and under 90% at SG and SF. I mean it feels like they just pull the damn things out of a hat sometimes.

Honestly, not a great season for the SIM - other than Giannis, of course. Wow.
Really? I see a lot of new great seasons in addition to Giannis, unless you're only talking about for open leagues, which I stopped playing a long time ago because they're a joke. The new Harden season is a unicorn and will be interesting to see how it plays. Great new seasons for Beal and Gobert. Monster season from Vucevic. Monster season for Kyrie (70+ D??? LOL). Great season for Buddy Hield. All kinds of great 3-pt shooting seasons, for that matter. The D'Angelo Russell season is fun. Lots of interesting stuff.

actually I see a ton of great seasons for OLs

40.5% usage from Harden is just INSANE

Yeah that may be true ash, I just meant to say I don’t play open leagues so I can’t speak to what’s good there if that’s what the post I was quoting referred to

I put it to you that Harden turns the ball over way too much. I don't think any of the recent seasons could work in a draft league, for example. I'd like to see how I might be proven wrong, though. There's a lot to like.

I do like Siakam, Ibaka, and Harrell. Hield and Beal are basically CJ McCollum/poor man's Ray or Klay. Russell probably isn't efficient enough for his usage.

Jaren Jackson, Jr. has a nice season. I could see myself bringing him off the bench at SF.

Paul George's increase in usage makes things interesting. I'm not sure where he fits in the pantheon of historical seasons. Nice if you can play him alongside great passing. Not as good an offensive rebounder as Drexler, or as efficient as Manu.

Harden's irl TOV is 14.5 that's actually not..... awful?

That Beal season isn’t “poor man’s Ray or Klay,” IMO its a better overall season than either of those guys have. Can’t match Klay’s D but 6 points of usage, 54% efg and 80% ft, solid D, 17% ast, OK rebounding for a guard, and 100% at three positions? Yes please.

Yeah I like the Beal season too.

what about Richaun Holmes?

100% SF and: 17.9 USG%, 60+ eFG, 10 ORB%, 19.4 DRB, low TOs, good blocks and steals and 84 D

Yeah, lots of guys get drafted as cornerstones of their squads with higher tov%. Consider his ast% in there and suddenly that 14.5% is actually pretty damn good. You really only have a few guys with that kind of ast% that have a lower tov%.

I really hate giving Harden any credit, btw.
