Passing - Developers Notes? Topic

I have seen developers notes that have been produced by longtime coaches. They helped explain how things worked. Are there any notes on the passing logic? How the AI decides who the QB throws to, or even who the QB looks at first, etc

I'm trying to get a better idea of how it works. I struggle both throwing the ball and defending the pass.

Here.

About halfway down.

Interesting stuff. Is this original information or have tweaks been made to the engine since the interview?

The interview is with Conte, so this was probably the 1.0-2.0 update. I don't think he was around for 2.0-3.0.

Definitely the 2.0 version. The change to 3.0 removed the aggressiveness settings.

What was that?

I wonder if the positional attribute importance have changed since this interview. For instance it mentioned speed as semi important for oline. That is the first I have seen or heard anything mentioned like that.

...and the article says Elusive rating important for def linemen. Makes sense, but I have never seen that mentioned anywhere.

Oh the mameries. Mooooo!

A lot has changed over the years. Not sure how much of this is even relevant now. It makes for an interesting read. If you have the time go for it.

The interview was done shortly after the 2.0 engine was released, in 2010. That's is what is meant when "The Update" is referenced. (Anyone that was around at the time should remember that the initial release was an unmitigated disaster.)

Well, if that is outdated and not valid, I will move on.

I'm still looking for some information on how the passing progression works.... and the passing game in general

I've kept quiet about this given that I've been playing a while to save me looking quite so clueless but it doesn't seem to make a difference on the completed pass scale in the match report whether you choose 100% to one receiver or 33% to all three (on trips for example) as extremes.
So if you put 100% to one player is that who the QB looks at first and if so how does he run through his progressions when you enter 33% for each??

See, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Assume that there is a deck of cards, 1-100.
EG settings for Trips. WR1 30, WR2 20, WR3 20, RB 15, TE 15
Does the sim roll the dice or pull a random card. 1-30 = QB looks at WR1 first? 86-100 QB looks at TE first?
If during the first look the QB is happy with the matchup, he throws the ball? If not happy because receiver isn't open, he rolls the dice/pulls a card to see which receiver he's going to look at next?

That's the way I believe it works. I also think there is more to it. Some coaches throw the ball every play and don't care if you guess pass. They aren't trying to fool you. Yet they are pretty much unstoppable. There is something else that adds to this riddle that they know and I don't!
