I was asked a question via sitemail I wanted to address here, you CAN change your mind on who you Bring Back or Ahead after the dispersal draft in case your needs change depending on what you draft.

Two more questions:

1) When we reach 2000 and go forward/backward again, will we also be able to twist 2 of our 2000 roster(like we did with our 1985 roster)?

2) Can we wait to make our 1985 twists until AFTER we have the dispersal draft?
1-Nope, the twists will be over.
2-You can if you like, since I made no rule against it, you could save your twists and use them on your drafted guys if you like.

3-Are you gonna join and are just deciding on a team, can I put ya down ???
Being able to twist drafted players could definitely change the draft strategy then. I like it!!

Saving/designating our 85 twists until after the draft is going to make things very interesting.

I sat on the sidelines while better teams I scouted were taken... but I'll dive in with the Cincinnati Reds.

We have great hitting and need pitching.

Will trade HOF Ken Griffey, Jr., HOF Pete Rose, HOF Tony Perez, or Dave Concepcion for an *excellent* starting pitcher with years of good performance.

Gotcha

When trading, is it possible to trade a 1970 player for a 2000 player?

Then a team would have 3 1970 players coming forward and 1 2000 player coming backwards.

Another question: If I have Joe Smith on my 1985 roster, and also on my 1970 roster - can I trade the 1985, and then bring forward the 1970 ?

Ya, you can trade for whatever, and yes you could trade the 85 one, then pull him right back from 70 again for yourself, for example, Pete Rose for Cincy

So, just to be clear, after the draft and trades, I can start my team with 1 1970 player, 2 2000 players, and 3 twists ??

No, no extra twists, 2 1970, 2 2000 ,2 twists
But via trade you could end up with any combo of 1970 and 2000 players

I take that back, you could end up with 1 1970, 2 2000 and 3 twists if you traded one of your 1970/2000 guys for a player twisted by another owner, but he would only have 1 twist and 5 total time travel players, so it is possible.

Almost there!

I also have a Bill Madlock that I am willing to trade that someone could twist. Would like pitching or a starting middle infielder.

The Tucson Toros have traded P Jack Morris to the Cincinnati franchise (crazyamos) for OF Dave Parker.

Crazyamos to confirm.

My keepers and twists to be adjusted accordingly.

Confirming the Parker for Morris deal

So, one of my strengths as a progressive owner is that I plan... a lot. Spreadsheets with players full careers on them, with PAs and IPs and a simple code for how effective they are. That said, my Reds have their up and down years over the next decade. But the Reds failed to bring up a single decent starting pitcher in the late 80s or all the 90s... it's a really shockingly bad run of no good rookies becoming effective SPs. All to say, in the late 90s, the Reds will have 400 to 500 IP a year for a few years, and not good quality innings at that. Should I care?
