The team has scored 42 fewer runs and has allowed 98 more runs than mensu1954's bad team, yet his team is a league worse 7-61 (.103). Other ranks for my bad team: Fielding% - Last (188 errors, second most is 130). DPs turned - Last. CS% - Last (.052 CS%). Passed balls - Most (63, second most is 34, third most is 7). Minus plays (53) - 2nd most. Plus plays - tied for 21st (all by pitchers).

I do wonder how much of an effect "managing" has on these standings. For example, redcped is using his excellent managing skills to get a bad team with a .114 expected winning percentage (17-129), all the way up to .253 (37-109). Meanwhile, tridentric has somehow managed to win 25 fewer games with mensu1954's bad team despite a better run differential than my bad team.

How much different would the W-L records be if redcped and tridentric switched the bad teams they had to manage?

Well, I don't mind sharing that I came up with a strategy I felt would maximize wins, such as they might be. It involved not caring at all about big losses to good teams, hence the terrible run differential. Basically, I have tried to start my Greg Maddux only against bad teams to try to win as many of his starts as possible and occasionally rested the best relievers too. I let everyone else just get pounded, and a few of them have just been fatigued from the outset and pummeled repeatedly.

I also have rested the better hitters who have fatigue potential when facing good teams, so I have them in there against the bad ones the most. It means shifting the lineup and rotation around almost every single game. Not everyone can or wants to do that, but I am certain it's added up to a significant number of wins. If I'd just set it and let it go, I'm sure we'd be about 8-10 games worse now.

But I don't think any of that is anything special other than taking time to execute it. And it might not even have been optimal strategy. Someone else surely could have coaxed more wins than I did if they were active and focused.

I don't place much value into expected winning pct in a league like this. The blowouts are more frequent and skews the numbers.
