So in the 180mil XY league, what's the final allotted amount for two franchises (x=2) and 20 different seasons (Y=20)?
what about 1 franchise and 20 different seasons?

Is the first questions answer (2X20)==40 or 22 (2+20)=22?
Is the second questions answer 1X20 =20 or 1+20=21?

2 franchises and 20 seasons would be 40. (2*20). So your cap would be 140M
1 franchise and 20 seasons would be 20 (1*20). So your cap would be 160M.

Just completed my $110 and $180-XY themes. Really fun roster builds. The 3 different franchise rule for the 110 theme was genius. Two franchises easy. Three a lot harder. The X*Y aspect of the salary cap was also very clever. As I tried to spend up to the cap, I kept lowering the cap. I think there is a sweet spot, but I'm not sure if I found out. I ended up drafting more innings than I need, so I'll probably play in a hitters park.

The variable roster cap is the most ingenious, to me. There are many different approaches that could work.

Isn't the easy way to determine eligibility to simply click "First/Last Season" = "First and Last" while also choosing Years 1886 thru 2017? The search engine does all the work. No need to go to baseball-reference for this theme.

Glad I read this.... I didn't know about the 1st/last filter.... Trying to draft the $70M without it is mind blowing... I have my $90M & $120M team complete & feel good about them.. $110M & $130M are close, just need to tweak the benches... Was working on $70M without the filter and wanted to shoot myself... This is a relief.. I'll start from scratch tomorrow... Still have to tackle the variable cap as well.

When choosing a ballpark for the Variable Cap league, there's only three parks in the sim (excluding WIS park) from before 1890. Many players from the 1880s don't have a true ballpark to choose from. Suppose we have one of those players. Can we choose his team's earliest park, even if it didn't exist in the sim until the 1890s? Or must we choose a park from one of our other players?

No. You must pick an available park that one of your players played in. If some of your players' parks are not available then you have to pick from your other players.

Grandpa said it was a good day if you learned something. I have never, ever, noticed the first/last filter...gotta go review my team. Jeez...

Ordinarily I would not join any of these leagues as a stand alone theme league but here I am enjoying the hell out of building my teams. Kudos for thinking up these themes.

The variable cap is my final project...I can't decide on which I like. Still tinkering.

Loved building the variable cap. I too was hoping to find a sweet spot that maximized payroll. I have all six built but going to take time reviewing. I also did not know about the first/last filter...
