Soup x 2, 80M w DH, No AAA (Full) Topic

Recruiting for Season 9 of the Cool Dudes League--this is a good one for those who enjoy the challenges of the lower cap.

80M cap, plus additional 5M after game 50. Franchise soup AND season soup*. All years, all ballparks. Yes: DH, WW, trades. No: AAA, clones, injuries.

*Franchise soup means all 25 players have to come from different franchises. See https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/ for franchise info. Season soup means they have to come from different seasons (your players can be scattered across the 130+ years in the database, you just can't have two from the same year).

I've never played a league with a waiver wire or where you get an extra amount of money after some number of games. How do those things work?

Wow, 54,000 games and you've never played in a regular 80 million open league - that all have waiver wires? I thought all of us started there as rookies.

Waiver wire: a varying group of players at each position are available, but you have to pay a fee (10% of player salary) to add them to your team

Money after game 50--you will be automatically given 5M after game 50 passes, which you can use to grab players that are available on the wire.

sign me up but need some info on " franchise and season SOUP". Is it example Washington senators and 25 consecutive years? That seems to be a challenge when adding the 5 mil after 50 games?? Thanks

I initially came in just in progressives, usually in leagues with my brothers. For a long time I didn't do theme leagues very often since I was so bad at them I just setting fire to my money. Once I figured it out, sort of, I played theme leagues but since I didn't know how waiver wire worked, I always skipped over the leagues that had them.

Pick1or2--

ok I will have to rework my team. I plan on getting in Just will take a day or two. Hope its still open! I ran one of those similar a couple years ago. It was tough to put together but ALOT of fun doing it.

SO after game 50 you get 5 mil off the waver wire. I take it you still need to stay in the theme correct? example if I have Mickey Mantle Yanks 63 for $4,000,000 after game 50 I can replace him with another player for as much as $9,000,000 if he doesn't match a team or year that I have on my team I originally drafted???

I'll reserve a spot for you, pick1or2. And don't rush--you have more than 2 days.

Yes, you have it right. You do have to stay within the theme when you pick someone off the wire. But your example works. (Though the waiver wire does have that nasty 10% fee)

If you choose a player from the Brooklyn Dodgers. can you also choose one from the LA Dodgers?
What about Washington Senators and the Twins or Rangers? Pilots and Brewers?
