I always find it strange in the WISC how much time we spend talking about division strength and how little we spend talking about league strength. The difference between playing 14 games against someone and playing 12 is, in the long run, about 0. And sometimes a division means you get a fluky playoff spot, or miss a spot with 94 wins.
But these are much smaller effects than playing 12 games rather than 2 games against one of ozo's teams or one of discodemo's. In principle that draw, who gets into the AL and the NL, could have enormous effects, much bigger than the sorting within divisions.
All that said, I have just enough energy to write about this; I'm too lazy to do the league strength calculations.
