New Century Progressive League 1901

I ran a version of this league as a live league for 30 seasons. When live play stopped being available I paused the league waiting for live to come back. It never did and most likely won’t.

Instead of continuing I have decided to go back and start again in 1901. Having learned from mistakes and decisions made earlier I feel like this will be an excellent progressive.

16 teams, 4 divisions
Players drafted are property of owner who drafted them until they are traded, cut or retired.
Trades of players will be allowed.
Trades of draft picks allowed up to 2 seasons ahead.
No WW, clones or DH

The player pool for 1901 allows for the 16 owners to each have 17 to 18 players. Also available to be drafted will be a list of supplemental players. For 1901 we will use the lowest salaried players from 1885. For 1902 lowest salaried players from 1886 will be used.

This still will not get us to a 25 man roster and we will have to use below average AAA to accomplish that.

After 16 owners are signed up we will hold a 21 round serpentine draft ( 20 players and a city/ball park.) As seasons progress owners will follow the path of original franchises and move to city or ball park as appropriate.

After the draft teams will use 5 filler players that will get us to a 25 man roster. The filler players are not allowed to play in games and must be sent to AAA before season starts and replaced with the below average AAA players.

The draft order for the inaugural season will be generated by a WIS owner not in the league from random.org

Future draft orders will be based on previous seasons records. We can discuss a possible wins floor or other anti tanking measures when we get everyone signed up. The hope here is for open communication from all about the direction of this league.

2 questions sir:

1. Does the stadium draft come after the player draft or before?
2.Once you draft a player can you put him on IL during an off season and retain rights?

The stadium draft will be included n the player draft. We have enough players to each draft 20 so the inaugural draft will be 21 rounds

Any player you draft remains your property even when on IL.
