Hi Guys - I will be on the road today and tomorrow with a client and won't have a lot of chances to check in. Once reddtrain makes his stadium selection (for me) with the final pick in this round, we can go ahead and start round 5.
Please remember the following:
1.) You are picking a franchise-decade (i.e. 10 consecutive seasons for a specific franchise), and assigning it to the owner of your choice.
2.) Each owner can obviously only be assigned 1 franchise-decade, so please keep track of who has already been given one.
3.) I know everyone can do math, but just in case, please remember that 1974-1983 is ten seasons; 1974-1984 is eleven.
4.) Franchise decades are exclusive. There can be no overlap with any other franchise-decades. So if I give someone the 1967-1976 Reds (which would be ridiculous, but just to serve as an example), no one else can give a Reds decade that includes any of those seasons. So the 1967-76 Yankees would be OK (because it's a different franchise). The 1942-1951 Reds would be OK (because it's a different decade). The 1964-73 Reds would not be OK (because it overlaps with the 1967-76 Reds).
5.) Please make sure you know your franchise histories. Use www.baseball-reference.com if you are unsure. Franchise means franchise...so the modern day Twins includes the Washington Senators from 1901-1960, but not the Senators of 1961-1971, and not any of the teams that were in Washington in the 19th century. Defunct franchises are eligible, as long as they have a ten year period in the WIS database. There are a couple from the 19th century that might be worth considering.
6.) But remember...the owner whom you give a franchise-decade to is going to turn around in round 6 and give you back one player-season from that choice. And you have to get that player his real life PA (up to 750) or IP (up to 500).
7.) There are LOTS of potentially good choices...my preliminary research suggests there are maybe 100 good options to pick from. Please do your homework...the idea is to give your fellow owners a really difficult roster to build. It will seriously skew the competitive balance of the league if someone makes a poorly thought out choice here.
