Big Dick League 2019 Fall Campaign Draft Topic

It is Fall bass fishing season, and soon I'll be on my way to Big Dick's Halfway Inn, located on Lake of the Ozarks. Nothing quite like one of their Minnow Shots and a beer, and where else but at " the Home of the Best Head on the lake"...

Halfway-inn.com/ (they've got a great online souvenir store)...https://bigdickshalfwayinn.co/

This league has a single round draft. The first 23 owners will each pick a player that we all will use, the 24th owner chooses the park that we'll all be required to use. All 24 owners must use the same 23 players chosen, using the exact same season, same version that was announced in the draft...You'll have some funds available to pick your 2 remaining players. They are your X-factors, you can pick any players from any season that don't put you over the cap.

We won't know exactly how much X-factor money we'll have left over until all of the 23 players are chosen...it could be a lot, or not very much at all...

Sometimes the players drafted here have funny names. Guys like Dick Burns, Rusty Peters, Dick Pole, Johnny Dickshot and Dick Cox have been known to show up here...

Salary Cap $100M
NO Waiver Wire
NO AAA
Can't trade
NO DH used
No friggin' Clones
Injuries-ON
Random realignment
Stadium is same for all- Memorial Coliseum
X Factor money remaining - $18,227,471

I will use random.org to determine draft order. The 24th owner picks our stadium...

When it is your turn to draft, you must pick a player within the given salary range, and that player must meet the PA or IP requirement(if applicable). The bench guys, as well as some of the RP's, don't have a requirement, just a salary range.

You may draft a player to play out of position, but they must have a minimum of 20 games played at the position. No other criteria as to their defensive prowess. In the draft center set the minimum games to 20, and check the Include secondary positions box.

Example: if Yogi Berra had a season in which he had 100 games played at catcher, 22 in the outfield, and 18 at first base, he could be drafted here either as a catcher or outfielder, not a first baseman...(as long as he was within the salary range, and met the minimum plate appearances)

You must declare which slot your player is filling, the season of that player, player's name, and his salary. All owners will use that same player, same season, same version. No exceptions.

Example: for the 200k-500k pitcher slot, 1993 Bryn Smith $227,139

Well, that's one way we will all score some runs. Having Stone hands as a shortstop. : )

I thought about going cheap here.

Thought about going with one of the many appropriate names out there...Jack Glasscock would team perfectly with Rusty Kuntz....

But decided to go in a different direction. I hate how SB-dominant so many themes are these days, so let's try to nip that strategy in the bud with:

C 1971 Manny Sanguillen
$5,425,126
557PA
11/3/2019 8:46 AM
I really wanted to use Babe Ruth of 1915 but I was 6 innings short of the 240 innings. SO I guess I'll go with my all time favorite pitcher Catfish Hunter 1974 Oakland A's 319 innings $9,495,214.
11/3/2019 12:15 PM
SP #2 1988 Orel Hershiser 8,140,557
11/3/2019 2:20 PM
I'm going to be a theme purist and honor Groucho Marx and Dick Cavett by nominating a true double phallic.

1976 Dick Pole for RP #2 ($2M - 2.5M, minimum 60 IP/162)

Dick costs a meager $2,013,858, so I'm tossing nearly the full $500K into the free agent money. You're welcome. The price you pay for that is how horrible his 126 innings are, which is admittedly a dick move. But hey you're getting 66 more innings than the minimum, so lie back and dream of England.
