Don't Get Too Comfortable (full) Topic

I've had this idea kicking around for awhile now - let's see if we can get it to come to fruition....

Choose a player that played for (at least) 4 different franchises in 4 consecutive seasons, and surround him with teammates from each squad. Use baseballreference.com to determine keystone player eligibility

Your selection, plus 6 teammates from each of the 4 franchises will make up your 25-man roster. The teammates must be from the franchises & years chosen( NO TWISTING).

Examples:

Wally Backman played for the '88 Mets, '89 Twins, '90 Pirates and '91 Phillies...... Pretty straightforward - any Backman season from '88-91 + 6 teammates each from the 4 teams listed.

Brett Tomko pitched for the '05 Giants, '06 Dodgers, '07 Dodgers & Padres and '08 Padres & Royals..... Little bit of a wrinkle as there are split seasons - you'd use the '07 Padres & '08 Royals to meet the 4 different franchise requirement.

Dick Schofield played for the '64 Pirates, '65 Pirates & Giants, '66 Giants, Yankees & Dodgers and '67 Dodgers....... Another wrinkle, as Schofield played for 3 teams in '66. You'd go PIT, SF, NYY & LA (64 thru 67, respectively) in this instance.

Julio Franco played for the '93 Rangers, '94 Chisox, '95 Did Not Play, '96 Indians and '97 Indians & Brewers.......yet another wrinkle. This involves a season that is missed due to injury, playing over seas, etc. As long as the 4 franchise requirement is met, and the seasons chosen are concurrent(allowing for the gap) it will be allowed.

$100M cap - that should keep everyone on an even keel
No to DH, clones, trades, live play, injuries or AAA - so draft accordingly
Use a park from one of the 4 franchises/years chosen
Let's shoot for a 24-team league
Teams will be aligned chronologically

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of combinations - players are exclusive to each owner. Please list your player & his 4 teams/years when signing up.

I'll make my selection after 12 have signed up & a league # will be created - any questions, let 'em fly.....

Hope to see you all soon

I’d like to play. Have a question though. If a player plays for multiple teams in a season do we just pick one?

The player I am thinking about using is Willie Horton. He plays for Detroit in ‘76, Texas in ‘77, Cleveland, Oakland and Toronto in ‘78 then Seattle in ‘79. So I am guessing I would just pick one of the 3 in ‘78

Also would I have to use a Horton season from ‘76 to ‘79 or just the teammates from those seasons
11/14/2019 1:20 PM
Welcome aboard, zube

'78 would be your choice of CLE, OAK or TOR

you have to use a Horton season between the years you choose(76-79 in this instance) - 6 players each(no twisting), from the teams selected + your player = 25

Ok put me down for Willie Horton 76-79

still working on who I’m choosing in 78
11/14/2019 1:57 PM
I’ll be using 78 Cleveland
11/14/2019 5:54 PM
Jay Bruce 2019 Mariners,18 Mets, 17 Indians, 16 Reds.
11/14/2019 7:18 PM
I'll try Norm Siebern
'65 Orioles
'66 Angels
'67 Giants
'68 Red Sox
11/14/2019 11:15 PM
think I may try to put together a team using utility-infielder Adam Rosales - 2015-2018

18 Indians
17 Dbacks
16 Padres
15 Rangers

Gonna go with Ozzie Virgil: '61 DET, '62 BAL, ('63 & '64 DNP), '65 PIT & '66 SFG.

I'm thinking about Kingman, but not sure he qualifies. He played for 4 teams in 1977, including the Mets.... He played for the Mets in 1976, but Cubs in both 78 and 79. He played for at least 4 franchises in 4 consecutive seasons. I'm sure about the back to back "Cubs only" seasons however. Please let me know.

This looks like fun. I will join with Kenny Lofton. He has so many to pick from, while still being, in my opinion, a very underrated player.
Look at the available years: 2001 Cleveland, 2002 Chisox and SF, 2003 Pittsburgh and Chicubs, 2004 NYY, 2005 Philadelphia, 2006 LAD, 2007 Texas (and back to Cleveland!)

I will be using 2002 Chisox, 2003 Chicubs, 2004 NYY, and 2005 Phils. I will use his 2005 season.

Funny, but I won't even be able to use some of his great Cleveland seasons, and they won't be represented here by him, but maybe another time.
Let's see if I can find enough pitching with this combo.

Kingman, in this particular instance, is a 'no-go'

the back-to-back Cubs seasons is the snafu
