Which brings me to Schilling...regardless of his political views, and whether or not I think he is an ******* (I do) I think he is a borderline Hall Of Famer. Wouldn't bother me if he got in or if he didn't.

I'm in agreement with Wylie on this. No doubt Schilling was a quality starter for many seasons. But a Hall of Famer? Questionable in my view.
But, there are others in the Hall I find beyond questionable when other GREAT ballplayers have been omitted........... for a variety of NON-Ball issues!

I'm kind of surprised no votes at all for Konerko, Cliff Lee, Soriano, Giambi, Beckett, Dunn, or Furcal. Maybe that's a good sign voters are taking this process seriously!

I’d give my sympathy vote to Brian Roberts before I gave one to those guys.

just out of curiosity, why is Jeter not a Hall of Famer? because he played for the Yankees? Because you don't like him. He may have been somewhat overrated, but he played an important position well for a long time. he was a very good offensive player. he seemed to play even better when it really mattered, and he was on a team that won several world series titles. His career slash numbers were .310/.377/.440 with a career OPS of .817. 3465 hits, 260 HRs, 358 stolen bases. Where exactly does he fall short?

He may not have been a great defensive SS, but he was far from the worst.

He may have been the worst of all-time, but you’re gonna deny 3000 hits, and a guy who showed up in the postseason, just because of his defense?

He probably should’ve played 3rd, but his numbers would still look very good compared to other 3rd basemen of his era.

if Harold Baines is in the Hall, being in the hall doesn't really mean anything anyhow. **** it, just put everyone in.
