Looking to fill the following openings for the next season. Spahn is a private world that typically rolls with between 3-5 openings each season and fills within 3 weeks more often than not. There are multiple owners who have been in the league more than 35 seasons and three of them have been around since Season 1. Here is open team description...
AL South
Former Little Rock Franchise - Only 5 owners in 48 seasons, this team has been steady. Last season they worked with only a $72M payroll and has some money coming off the books.
SP Paulino ($7.25M) and
LF Manual ($900k) would be Type A/B free agents if not retained and all the other team's core players are signed to multi-year extensions.
IF Silva provides pop at either SS or 3B,
CF Marte has a bat that plays in CF, and
2B Masao brings elite speed to the leadoff position. The team has five players with 77 OVR ratings who make minimum salary, plus, a
SS Barber and future All-Star
SP Frasor are ready for their Major League debuts immediately.
RP Keys is another "key" prospect in AA, while
SP Brantley is another prospect not far away. They will have the
15th overall pick in the first round with potential to add more picks pending the resigning of their own free agents.
Former Jacksonville Franchise - This team only has two players making more than the league minimum but has 10 arbitration eligible players. They are led by 23-year old phenom SP Giles, LF Brow, and 2B Soria. The quickest way to improve this team would be to add some defensive specialists, especially at SS and CF as this team made 75 errors and 33 minus plays last season. Star 2B Addition is the team's best prospect but SP Tatis and RF Bradley are the next big prospects to help out the ML team. In the lower minors, SS Cintron will help at some point. They will have the 11th overall pick this season.
AL North
Former Philadelphia Franchise - This team could so easily be built into a monster in short order. At the top of the pitching rotation sits SP Ordonez and SP Parker. SP Turley is right behind them and RP Brogna is there to close it out at the end. 3B Cano is a perennial All-star and MVP candidate and RF Pillette and IF Sojo back him up to make a formidable heart of the order. The best ML-ready prospects are 2B Reyes, C Hayes, and RF Rijos. A little further away we'll find P Campbell, CF Sauerbeck, and SP Gonzalez, They will have the 27th overall pick this year and can easily win 95+ games and contend for the World Series with a one or two big moves.
Former Iowa City Franchise - Only 3 players are making more than ML minimum and only 2 players are eligible for arbitration, so the payroll will be very low. Arguably the two best players on the team were rookies last year: SP Belza and 1B Hooper. 1B Padilla is another solid hitter with an expiring contract, who could be moved to acquire a decent prospect or two. LF Mench is an intriguing lefty hitter in the minors and 2B Del Rosario is another usable prospect in High A. There aren't a lot of young stars in the system, but they have a very low payroll and the 1st overall pick in the entire draft.
NL East
Former Toledo Franchise - They'll have a medium payroll and play in a division where the winner last season finished under .500 so even moderate improvements could turn them into a playoff team. LF Duran should prove to be a decent leadoff man. RP Kata is a decent closer making minimum salary and RP Berkman is solid setup man. SP Ni and SP Peterman fill the rotation. IF Hall, former #5 overall pick, is ready to rock and roll in the Majors this season and SS Green is another year or two behind him. They will have the 11th overall pick in the draft.
