Here's a review of the available team:
San Francisco Giants (93-69, 1st Pl)
This team could use an owner looking to stick around for a long run to add stability and a longterm plan to this solid franchise. Division winners aren't easy to take over in that it takes a careful hand to make the changes to take it from division winner to WS Champion. Fortunately the Giants have some quality talent for the new owner to build around. Denny Murphy (99 runs, 27 HR, 109 RBI, .319) is the leader on offense and gets some help from Don Matsuzaka (18, 81, .274) & Zach James (26, 84, .267).
However, this is not a one dimensional team as hurlers Toby Locke (15-5, 2.67), Shannon Potvin (18-7, 2.90), Ray Griffith (16-7, 2.91) form as good a front end of the rotation as this world has to offer. The closer role has handled by Branch Bortnick who converted 42 of his 45 save opportunites but also posted 12 losses and a 4.34 ERA.
A team batting average of .260 is respectable yet some additional power and high OBP bats could help take this team to the next level. When a team can boast a 3.45 ERA there is little need for changes however another bullpen arm or upgrade to the closer position may be the better move.
This team could use either a newbie willing to stand pat as he learns the nuances before making any serious moves or a veteran that would enjoy the challenge of bringing in the right additions to power a WS run.
