I figure if I am going to grab a one time stiff, might as well make it from an historic game. I present to you the "Cannon Fodder" Special aka Charlie Zink. His one callup during that August 12, 2008 tussle against the Texas Rangers was memorable. Despite giving up 8 runs in 4 1/3 innings, still didn't get the loss as the hometown Sox rallied to win 19-17 in what has been called "The Football Game"

on a side note: somehow the Texas Rangers managed to use 30 pitchers that year but none was a Cuppa Joe special. They just went through the garbage can and found whatever didn't smell too bad and threw them out there. BOMBS AWAY!!!

and to complete your history lesson, that 2008 Red Sox team now famous for having 3 future managers on the team. Any guesses people?

I'm back with Ralph McCabe- Senators at Cleveland played at League Park II on 09-18-1946

Oddities: I didn't know that the Tribe played at both Cleveland Stadium and League Park II in the 1946 season. Thought the "Mistake on the Lake" was well established as their home field by then. Was glad to see this particular game was played at League Park as it favors doubles and my squad hit a bunch of them.

McCabe's only game was this start against the Senators late in the season. He pitched 4 innings yielding 5 hits and 5 ER (gave up three homers)

Evidently the denizens of Cleveland were pretty much done following the team, and the Senators weren't much of a draw. Only 3,212 fans attended the game which took 1 hour and 42 minutes.
