Progressive leagues are the most fun leagues in the entire sim in my opinion and the best part about them is the off-season. Making trades with other owners and drafting rookies can make you feel like you are the GM of a franchise. Most progressive leagues now are putting strict regulations on trading. Some owners have expressed interest in a new progressive with less regulations and more trading encouraged. So, we are introducing a brand new progressive with the main idea being that we will have 24 teams with engaged owners active in the trade market.

Here is your chance to start in a new progressive league from the ground up!

Here are the new league's details:
- 24 teams with engaged owners who are all actively trying to make their teams better through trades and the draft.
- Less regulations on trades. If two owners both think it helps their teams, the trade goes through.
- Some regulations to protect new owners from getting taken advantage of by experienced owners.
- Owners expected to reply to all trade messages.
- Strict regular season tanking rules. Off-season do what you want.
- Historical record for each owner.

- League starts in 79-80
- Initial draft: 12 rounds of 79-80 player seasons only
- Single season progressive

- Lottery: Weighted for non-playoff teams
- 8 keeper maximum to promote trading
- No cap
- Picks traded 3 seasons out. Works for LOB pretty well.

- What do we call the league? Somebody come up with a good acronym
- Any ideas that encourage trading are welcome!

Also, if anyone is interested in becoming commissioner of this new league, it is all yours. I am acting as temporary commissioner in order to get the league started, but don't want to run it for too long. Being commissioner of these leagues is a lot of fun. It takes a small time commitment, but can be a blast. Let me know if you are interested now or may be in the future!

Progressives are a blast and this one should be fun. Lots of trading always makes leagues more enjoyable. Since you are relatively new to the basketball sim, make sure you ask experienced owners before making too many trades. We will have a fair play council meant to make sure newer owners don't get screwed over in trades for the first few seasons.

I only play progressives in baseball--I'm in 5, and currently in the inaugural draft for a sixth.

One thing's for sure--not as many rounds!!!!!

As for a name, how about The League That Ate Pittsburgh?

League idea names:

The BID League (Barter, Interchange(?) and Draft)

The LMD league (Let’s Make a Deal)

SILK Road (Swap it like krazy)

SNS (Swap N Shop)

DND (Deal or No Deal)

BUMP (Bazaar Union Market Place)


These are all half baked, feel free to polish one of these turds by modifying any if you want.

I like Let's Make a Deal and Deal or No Deal, but don't like the acronyms, and I like the BUMP and SILK acronyms but not what they stand for haha. I'm impossible.
