To me the most interesting team is the one I rooted for when I was 14 years old, the 73 Mets.
They were 11th of 12 NL teams in runs scored, 11th in home runs and dead last in slugging percentage. The only hitting category they excelled in was an embarrassing 1st place in grounding into double plays. And that isn't even easy with the few men they got on base. Imagine how bad they would have been if they had to face their own pitching staff?
Yet they won the division (barely) beat the Big Red Machine in the playoffs and were up 3 games to 2 against the A's in the World Series before falling in seven games.
Amazing, even 47 years later.
