I have one main overriding strategy if I ever do Savage again:

draft better players.

Pretty simple philosophy - (heck, I guess I could apply that to every draft)

Draft Better Players -

I know about
Regan's economic 'Trickle Down' or 'Vodoo Economics'....
'Marshall Plan' to help W. Europe after WW2,
Sam Hinke: 'Trust the Process'
Sun Tzu the Art of War
Don Corleone's 'keep your freinds close your enemies closer'
and even Mike Tyson's 'everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth....

35 games and a dip below .500 serves as my 'Hit in the Mouth moment'....

I'm coming up up a new plan...
A LOT of it will be dependent on my D.B.P. ideals...
Draft
Better
Players.....

Im not going to divulge the full depth associated with ths masterpiece plan,
this blueprint of World domination...

But, rest assured I am scraping a LOT of of our orginizations tenets

no more Guys who had interesting surnames names and or cool nicknames
no more avoiding guys because they look soft and doughy ...
no more drafting guys because theyd probably really fill out a speedo during swim suit season
no more avoiding guys because they are a$$holes
Hell, if that were the case, we'd struggle to fill up the necessary owners for the league...
and no more guys who suck at basketball - that is an important one

Im now entering into a phase of introspection and discovery...

Johnson, Keldon 19-20 Spurs SG/SF
Pex, Im surprised,
my Big Blue Nation fandom usually INSPIRES hatred and loathing...
Boo-Birds- rotten tomatoes - Fbombs

good take there with the club -

There is an ALUMNI theme that takes place around March every year -
(all3 has ran this for YEARS) - 43 million cap

the winner is usually Wake Forrest and or a team that has benefitted from the 'twist'
(usually the 'smaller' schools can add a couple of players)
Wake Forest with Rodman or Curry it seems is always the winner....
(we are way way past due of banning Wake Forest from adding a 'twist')
Kentucky, North Carolina, UCLA, Kansas, Duke never seem to do especially well.

I always take two Kentucky teams - (while avoiding duplication of players) -
my taking two Kentucky's is probably the contributing factor of Kentucky never dominating - lol
Im always solid - (playoffs or close) but never much more - the story of my tenure at WIS I'm afraid.

I think the LAST thing my already bruised basketball ego could handle would be
PEX and his magic touch, taking a Kentucky team and totally kicking everyones a$$,

lol
(my passion for the Cats would still cause me root for your Kentucky edition though )

1997 - Kentucky vs Arizona in title game:
(the Tournament brackets are a HUGE almost religious / cultural thing in Kentucky)

IF Arizona won: I took a jackpot of over $500.. If Kentucky won - I got nothing
I never for a second tought about wanting that money - (now that was perverted blood money)

I am still SUPER ****** about Arizona and the 41 to 17 free throw disparity in that game...
I still can not stand Higgins (dont remember his first name) and Teddy Valentine (two of that games officials)

Haven't played that league in a few years, but I usually play Georgia Tech. Derrick Favors has been a good addition to Tech's all-time team, so I may have to check it out again.

John Higgins.

John Higgins.
John Higgins is the ref who stuck it to us in the 2017 elite 8 fiasco vs N.C.
He is the tanned guy with blown dried hair from Nebraska -

John Higgins ended up suing a sports radio guy in Lexington for the Radio guys negative comments in post game -after the '2017 fiasco
LOL - true - look it up: the first contest anyone from Kentucky had any luck in court, or ON court with Higgins involvement

We have a pretty extensive website covering UK history - one segment is the referencing of every ref to work UK games:

Higgins had a hand in almost every big loss for Kentucky over the last decade or so....
His history with UK is really incredible - and alarming -
when you connect the dots, and examine the record with him involved vs. BIG games without him
http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/Officials/John_Higgins.html

TIM Higgins is the ref who worked the '97 Arizona game
he was short and squatty - and was already maybe a tad too old and too slow by '97 -
had a shock of parted grey hair - he worked a TON of big games

and - Teddy Valentine is Teddy Vaentine - (the other guy working the '97 game)
State Patrolman from some midwestern state - a showboat -
he use to LOVE pi$$ing off Bobby Knight - and loves preening for the camera -
llikes to do a lot of macho postruing.. and exagerrated whistles and hand signals - lol - a peecock
if your a college basketball guy, youd recognize his. - he is still working
I attended a Louisville game this past winter (dont tell samuelyork - he'd never let me live it down),
and Valentine was working the game - I was hopeul he would sprain an ankle or pull a hammy - lol

9/15/2020 9:16 PM
anyone see the Bam Adebayo block
of Jason Tatum attempted dunk with 2 seconds left and 2 point lead - ??

Wow !!! - about the biggest clutch block I can ever remember....
9/15/2020 9:30 PM
might have to add Bam Adebayo to the all-time Kentucky roster. Kawhi would have made that block with one finger.
9/15/2020 9:35 PM
lol - yes the Kawhi block was big...
and somehow made my fingers ache -

I'd be in a splint and taped up for a month (a year at my current age)
a big splint might just get me out of mowing and cleaning the pool for a few days
9/15/2020 9:45 PM (edited)
that block... Jesus.
9/15/2020 9:45 PM
Not sure how he didn't end up with a broken hand...unbelievable block
9/15/2020 9:49 PM
I am exhausted from that game. I don’t know if I will make it through all of game 7 here.
9/15/2020 9:54 PM
spinning through my rolodex of basketball history....

I'm not sure I'm able to pull a bigger more important block -
Eastern Conference Finals - 2 second 2 point lead...

Im sure there are several that match or transcend the Adebayo block...
but not surewhen or by whom...

and a wind mill-cranked back dunk coming at the basket....
much much more impressive than blocking a jump shot ....

Jabbar - Olajuwon ? Surely Bill Russell made a similarly huge block - ...

I keep thinking MJ stealing the ball from the Mailman - but it wasnt a block to win the game...
Bird stealing the Thomas inbounds.... Havlicek stealing pass from Hal Greer and Sixers in Sixties...

but a block?
