Do I pick now, or after the 24 are chosen?

FWIW, my initial guess is that being chosen first vs last in this league is worth approx 5 wins. So it's not nothing, but it's not this is the end of the tournament either.
Still, I'm not unhappy about having 5 wins fall into my lap like this .

It seems odd to me that we would design a theme in the second round of the WISC that has an unbalanced playing field.

Well, in theory, the unbalanced playing field is suppose to favor those lower ranked owners.

On my phone so can’t update for an hour or two. In the meantime, can someone pick me so I get some of those 5 wins?

I’ll start threads for the player drafts in a bit. You’ll make your picks there

PennQuaker - NL East
d_rock97 - NL Central

Sorry PennQuaker...but I had to eliminate the risk that I could be forced into the NL East

brianjw - NL East
oh man. Extremely curious to hear what the logic was here
Maybe 06gsp thinks that he gains more wins himself by playing brianjw 10-12 fewer times than he otherwise would have, than he loses by giving brianjw access to better players and likely increasing his win total. Of course, this depends on who ends up in 06gsp’s conference who otherwise wouldn’t‘ve been there

good thinking, except by my estimation his strategy is going to result in him getting more than his fair share of other top tier owners.

Right — the pick implies that there's a substantial delta between brianjw and other top owners, which I would argue against.
