Quality of Life/ Bug Fixes? Topic

Hey everyone, as Chris and I are trying to get more comfortable with the code base, one of the best ways to do that is to do small bug fixes and small quality of life things. For example we are looking at reducing the min pitch count for starters to 20 to allow for openers.

Do you all have a some things that would help you in HBD?

Two off the top of my head, both again with pitching:

1. Allow the usage of a Tandem 5
2. Allow the resetting of the starting pitching order at the All Star break (like you can between the end of the regular season and the playoffs).

All I ask is please let us know of the changes being made. The other recent changes have made me want to quit.

^^^ @adlorenz

Within the past year or two many of us suspect that revisions have been made to the game without anyone being told.
Two specifically - frequency of injuries (although, given, there have always been owners who complain about injuries); and effect of Medical budget on injury recovery.

What we ask is that any such changes are announced, so that we will understand our level playing field.

On the player statistics page, if you choose to view certain splits such as batting vs. LHP, batting vs. RHP, etc., not all statistic columns work. e.g. RBI's are all zero.

Add a setting where you can specify not to take your starting pitcher out in the late innings if he is throwing a no-hitter.

Lots of good options here. I would love for spring training to set a ‘recommended settings’ to have a max pitch count of 40 for pitchers or something like that. I hate having to do that manually every year.

1) Gently expand the number of players a team can put on the Trade Block, from the current 10 to, say, 15.
2) Might not be "small" from a programmer's perspective, but a notification to your banner (the stuff that shows up in red at the top of the world office) when a trade offer you sent to someone has been accepted or rejected would be nice. I mean, the other 30 teams get something in their banner when someone accepts your trade offer...

1. Amateur draft and rule 5 draft boards get reset if you update your draft settings. This can cause owners to lose work product of setting up their boards;
2. Injury recovery on major injuries. The way it works right now, if a player has a major injury near the beginning of the season, he rarely fully recovers and often times becomes a shell of his former self despite a high medical budget;
3. Add a "last 7", "last 15", "last month" to seasonal statistics dropdowns;
4. Transparency regarding what causes a player to attempt to steal a base. Is it speed, baserunning or a combination of both;
5. Left- handed specialist and right-handed specialist pitching role settings that work;

Different lineup options that are able to be saved and named. One for Spring Training, for example.

The ability to individually set how aggressive each baserunner will be in stealing bases.

My number one quality of life thing would be to publish patch notes on every change made to the game in the last three years.

This is a tired, old suggestion that would require overhauling the entire basestealing part of the engine.

Say you get your wish, then the first thing every owner will do is set everyone to never steal unless they have 80+/80+ speed/baserunning ratings, and suddenly leaguewide success rates are pushing 90% or better, which creates a whole other problem of unrealistic basestealing.

I'm not arguing that the basestealing part of the game is perfect as is, but individual settings are not a reasonable or acceptable fix. It simply would lead to a need for additional adjustments that would turn the whole process into a major overhaul of that aspect of the game -- and I really don't think that's what this thread is meant to be about.
Agreed.

(Not to mention that, a segment of our owners would wish the game more accurately represent 2020 baseball and not 1990 baseball, in which case NO one steals bases these days.)

Oh. I forgot, 1st and supplemental round for the draft during 1 cycle, then all other draft rounds for the next cycle so that owners can change their draft board settings for rounds 2+.

This is something that I want to touch on, they dynasty games are not like other live service games where you can make balance changes on the fly and its generally received well. If all of the Dynasty games you are spending seasons building towards something so balance changes and updates that affect gameplay will be handled with extreme caution and need to be given with a long runway.

Secondly, you will get patch notes. I come from Live Operations and when we change something in the game you will know, it may not contain the secret sauce of the game but it will give you a gist of what we are trying to accomplish. There will be a post at minimum in the forums and but I also need to go back look at the Development notes part of the webpage too.
