Dang, that was close!

I'm at the 120 game mark with a very similar team (same Greenberg, Gordon, Stephens, different Ruth & Kingman)...also have eight of the top nine in the league, tracking for 92 wins...and still gonna come up well short. +279 so far - hoping for some late season scrub beat downs!

Bump. Taking another run at this one, in the post-AAA era...

SimBaseball Bounty Six -- HR Double Down:

The HR bounty still hasn't been approached in any meaningful way, so I wanted to double down on that bounty. These next two bounties will both approach the current and still active HR bounty individually, but in the same way as the SB and error bounties. This will be awarded to the one who reaches the highest score between now and the end of the year (with games ending on 6/30/21 PM2 cycle). This one will be a guaranteed winner to the one who achieves the most net HRs (Home Runs hit minus Home Runs allowed) as a team during this time frame for a team that wins at least 90 games.

I'll keep a tally of the leader right here in this box for easy reference.

Current Leader:
Just4Me: 397 (441 hit, 44 allowed), 91 wins
If I’m still the leader as of 6/30, I’ll push this out to September 30.

Team record: 93-69
HR hit : 579
HR allowed : 135
HR total : 714

Holy cow! I think we have a winner.
6/11/2021 2:29 PM
That looks to be the current leader for both total HR and HR differential. 714 total eclipses the 600 from ryno, and 444 eclipses my own 397 differential.

great job!

I’ll update first page tomorrow

I'm sorry lasorda2, but I'm going to have disqualify this entry. While it was from an OL, it broke rule #2: "These bounties cannot interfere with the competitive balance of these leagues."

You had two teams in this league and you only pitched mopups against yourself. This team gained ~90 HR alone just from facing your own team. That's not really fair to the spirit of the bounties or the league in general.

It was a valiant effort, though, and would have likely come close to one or both of the bounties without that, so I do encourage you to try again.

That's alright, I wasn't even aware of this bounty until I checked out the forum that day I posted. Btw, my two teams made the playoffs and no way I did interfere with the balance of the league, I just had two good teams, that's all.
Anyhow no hard feelings, have fun fellas, I was just passing by, still have 4 teams left on my 6 pack and not even sure I'll use them up.

My HR team is at the all star break now.

We're 45-36 (barely on pace for the 90 win requirement -- in our defense we landed in a killer division of Open League panjandrums, the other three teams on pace for 102, 100 and 98 wins).

We've hit 202 HR, allowed 17 HR, so a net of 185, on pace for 370. A ways off from just4me's 397, but with a puncher's chance, I guess.

The games are a hoot. Had one earlier today where we outhomered our opponent 9-0. Still needed 10 innings to win, 17-16.

Believe It or Don't!

Season's over. We remained in the cellar of our tough division, finishing with 94 wins (the other three had 101, 100 and 96 wins). But we did pick up the HR pace in the second half.

Final totals:

440 HR hit, 34 allowed for a net of 406.

Fabulous finish and rough division! First page updated assuming no one else passes you up in the next month+, I think you're safe here.

SimBaseball Bounty Two -- The One About HRs:
For this bounty you will need to win 90+ games while having your team have either 800 HRs (hit+allowed) or by hitting 450 more HRs than you allow. For this bounty, there may be some elements of luck depending on divisional and league setup and ballparks, etc... but how you decide to chase this is up to you. You want to go for hitting 450 HRs without allowing any, or go for a split where you hit and allow 400... up to you.

I'm entering one to start with with a goal to hit 450 and give up 350 while still winning 90 or more games.

To get an idea where I got these numbers from, I save every league I've ever played in a spreadsheet with full team stats, ballpark, etc... I had one team where I hit 500 and gave up 800 (1300 total) that won just 65 games. I had one where I hit 375 and allowed 325 (700 total) while winning 100 games. I had one where I hit 525 and allowed 700 (1225 total) and won 82. I had one that hit 500 and allowed 200 (700 total) and won 94. And in the end I both felt 800 seemed easy and very difficult, so that seemed right. On the other side, hitting 500 without allowing any on its own seemed easy, but to do that while winning 90 games, that seemed much more challenging giving the salary required for each element.

Hopefully this will be as challenging as I imagine, require a little league alignment and/or general luck, but should bring some unique strategies and fun to these leagues at the very least.
Bounty achieved:

https://www.whatifsports.com/mlb-l/view.asp?lid=135022

https://www.whatifsports.com/mlb-l/playerstats.asp?teamid=1646369

91 wins and EXACTLY 800 HR hit+allowed (536 hit and 264 allowed).

7 of 8 starters hit 50+ HR with only Davey Johnson falling short of 50 with 49.

Bounty wasn’t even on my radar as I drafted this team. Team was built from a discussion with a coworker about Judge’s HR performance historically. I built the team to put Judge together with some of the other greatest HR seasons to see them side by side in a similar environment. Really wanted Bonds and Ruth, but couldn’t afford either in a way I felt would still give me a shot at winning. Missed the playoffs, but am excited to have reached the bounty.

Gift card inbound. Congrats! This was the elusive one that I was beginning to think may not fall.
