I made the mistake of opening one of Doug's posts and I have to respond. It is the economy, stupid!
Biden has created 3x as many jobs as the last 3 GOP presidents combined. GDP annualized growth under Biden is 5.7%. It was 1.00% under Trump.
All of which makes Biden's first year in the White House the standout among the seven previous presidents, based on 10 market and economic indicators given equal weight. According to data compiled by Bloomberg, no one comes close to matching Biden's combination of No. 1 and No. 2 rankings for each of the measures:
- Gross domestic product (1)
- Profit growth (1)
- S&P 500 performance (2)
- Consumer credit (1)
- Non-farm payrolls (2)
- Manufacturing jobs (2)
- Business productivity (2)
- Dollar appreciation (2)
- S&P 500 relative performance (2)
I will make a mistake and respond to this. I usually avoid this forum since hypocrites reside here.
Unemployment before the covid pandemic was 3.5%
Now under Biden it is currently 3.6%
The jobs were there before covid and most of them have just refilled since the lockdowns have been lifted after he became president.
He hasn't "created" any jobs.......... they've just been refilled.
Same can be said for GDP growth, tie the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns into the equation and the economy went into freefall. Then when it reopened Biden, the Democrats and left-wing media say it is growth but it is really just recovery, not growth.
They can't fool everyone..
Agree to disagree. Covid and supply chain issues made it difficult to get people to work.
Leadership had a lot to do with creating the lowest unemployment ever.
You give very little credit to maintaining an economy during a pandemic killing over 1 million people here.
Economic markers are only for presidents and parties you like it seems like you are saying.
The stimulus actions were aggressive steps to counter a possible depression. It was totally attacked by the red army. And later many republicans took credit for how the stimulus helped their state.
Now that should elicit some of that don’t get fooled or lied to.
Trump inherited a robust growing economy.
Biden inherited a covid economy.
As for they can’t fool everybody that’s a tad cynical.
The numbers are the numbers. It does not matter if you want to call recovery.
The “recovery” exceeded all expectations.
And the physical infrastructure bill did create a lot of jobs. Nor should one fail to acknowledge that most industrial countries have high inflation because of supply chains and suffering from the war with regard to oil imports from Russia and wheat from Ukraine
