Hey, I was in a league like this years ago...not sure if a comparable theme exists today, so I am starting one. Ideally this will be a multiseason theme with an ongoing blacklist.

The basic idea is simple. Pick a season (1903; 1905-1993; 1995-2020), and build your 25 man roster from the 2 teams that made the World Series that season. No twisting. No restriction on how many players come from which team. Seasons are exclusive, and must be claimed here (I will pick 12th).

Cap: 80M (this will mean that you almost certainly cannot use all of the best players)
DH: No
AAA: No
Trades: No
WW: No
Injuries: On (be sure to draft enough PA and IP, as there will be no help available for you if you get into a fatigue problem)
Park: Must be one used by one of your two teams during your chosen season
Clones: No
Alignment: Random

Important note: for players who were traded, you may only use the partial season version associated with your team. NO COMBINED SEASONS may be used (even in the unlikely case that a player appeared for both world series teams in a given season). I will be verifying rosters and will send you back to the drawing board if you used a combined season. The easiest way to avoid this, when using the advanced search features, is to set the Season Type drop-down menu to "Full/Partial."

Assuming we get enough owners with the appetite to continue the theme, we will build a blacklist. Each season the two teams from our league that appear in the World Series will be permanently blacklisted.

Then the SIM will automatically confirm that all of your players come from that season, which is one less step for me when it comes to checking rosters. If you don't do this step, you will not be able to enter your team.

I've built several teams now...the 80M cap will make this a VERY competitive league, and in my opinion, it means that a lot of the "usual suspect" seasons will not end up being the best ones to use.

Deadball era teams - you will have a hard time finding enough low salary players to fill your 25 man roster while staying under the cap, and you almost certainly won't be able to use all the best pitchers
Ruth-era Yankees - yeah, good luck with that. In his best years, Ruth alone will wipe out 1/4 of your budget.
Modern teams from the post-dynamic-pricing era - there are some good individual values, but on the whole the best players are still really expensive. And many of the uber-cookies didn't play for WS teams, so you're out of luck there. You're going to need to roster at least some second-line talent in starting roles.

Lots of great choices available here. I've made probably two dozen teams now, from all different eras, and I am confident that the vast majority of seasons can be competitive in this format. Anyone up for a McLain-Gibson team from 1968? Ford-Koufax from 1963? Can you put together an OF that fits under the cap from 1961 (won't be able to have Mantle AND Maris AND Robby AND Pinson...but you can probably do pretty well...). How about that 1969 Mets-O's pitching staff? Or the Sox-Cards 2004 offense. You like old school...try one of those seasons from the oughts with the Cubs combining with the White Sox or Tigers. Heck, I've made two teams from the 1930s that I think could be competitive here, and the thirties almost never do well in a cross-era league.
