Today is the last funeral in Oxford. This one for Justin Shilling. Justin, 17, donated all of his organs so Oxford Police are escorting his body today as an act of tribute. Justin was an amazing kid, and if you want to see what a bright light the world had extinguished take a look at the article linked below.

One other thing that came to mind this week in regards to another victim, 16 year old football player Tate Myre. Throughout our lives many of us ask the eternal question of ourselves..."Why are we here?" Why I think this applies here is that we all have defining moments in our lives. We don't know when they will happen. We don't know why. Yet their aftermath ends up defining who we are as human beings. I think that our individual "purpose" here on this earth is actually defined not only by the larger moments, but by the smaller ones. For Tate, that larger moment, the moment he was born for, turned out to be running in to defend his fellow students and showing the character and strength that I have heard so many speak of in the past week. Unfortunately his finest qualities of humanity and his character led him to a situation that cost him his life. But he did it anyway. For those like me, that didn't know the young man, that moment could easily be the only thing we really ever know about him. This past week I've had the opportunity to learn much more about Tate Myre than just that moment. If you're interested in learning a little bit more about another amazing kid gone far too soon take a look at the article linked below.

I know a lot of you here don't have a very high opinion of me or the person I am to you here on a message board. Today I want to ask you a favor. I want to ask you to get past it, at least here in this thread. I'm trying to get past my conflicts here with a few specific others. I've seen them take a thread I created to talk about the shooting at Oxford High School and turn it into arguments about religion, politics and use cute little memes to denigrate others and promote their political ideologies. I've even allowed myself to be sucked in to the void again but I'm done with it. You write what you want and continue doing you, but I'm ASKING you. NICELY. To STOP DOING IT HERE. If you have something to say about Oxford or these kids or to the discussion about guns and school safety I'd love to hear it. But for ****'s sake, out of respect for these kids, for the Oxford community and for people like me from the area that have been outwardly affected by this tragedy. Let it go, at least here, and take the other bullshit somewhere else.
Good post, RSVP. I have no problem with you, or anyone else. That said, there are times when I have a problem with what some folks will say.. but this is the norm.

I know you are emo' (like myself) but I don't know your story.. and if push comes to shove, I will be in your corner if the chips are ever down

and although it is ten days off, Merry Christ mas

Just watching the 4 o'clock news and MY high school in my hometown, where I graduated from, went on lockdown today when apparently an 18 year old student somehow attacked and cut a 16 year old student. They had very little details as of yet other than to say the student is ok, the other has been taken into custody, and a knife was recovered. The insanity continues today. For me even closer to home. As sad as this is to say, at least it wasn't a gun.

EDIT: Moments after I posted this they announced that another local community high-school campus is currently on lockdown due to serious threats now under investigation. WTF???????
This world is an evil place. RS.. and people are gong nuts. No restraints means more crime..

I grad way back in the 60's.. NONE of this stuff happened in schools.. it was unthought of and unheard of.. We also didn't have video games that take the player's mind to places they shoould never go to. Hang in there

I live here. In a family and with friends that are avid gun owners and hunters. If you live in Michigan it's exceptionally common to own a gun and participate in hunting and game sport. The problem isn't "guns" per se. The problem is the laissez-faire attitude America has towards them. The problem is people like the parents of this kid. The fight against common-sense gun legislation is the problem. An extremely at-risk kid coming to school with a gun in his backpack and it not being found is the problem. Mental health in this country is the problem. Self-annointed "patriots" parading around state capitals terrified they're "coming for our guns" is the problem. People already posting online using this tragedy as a political fear-mongering platform is the problem. Our children are dying because again...

Freedumb

THAT'S all of our problem.
Those are symptoms of a much deeper problem. but before you go blaming parents: this is totally on the one who pulls the trigger.. He makes a choice.. to take a life.. and once that is done, you cannot undo it..

Btw - im tired of debating gun laws.
It is all about the ballot box.
Demos are soft on crime.. but when the Rep were in, crime still prevailed. Not so much about gun laws. In Canada almost everyone in the country towns had a 30-06 on the rack of their pickup.. Homicide rates in a rough town like Prince George (pop 90,000) were still a tenth of what the rate is in Detroit, Chic, LA, Stockton, East St Louis, or even Medford Oregon, although Medford is more tame than the aforementioned

Its about time that kids wore bullet proof vests to school.
It's about time parents said to H with this and home schooled their kids.

I have done lots of correspondance courses, too ...and my retention is way higher in the subs I corr'ed in.

In Canada, our schools were built by the same ones who designed prisons. They are institutions.. and they institutionalize the kids.. with new age crap that denies that there is such a thing as evil.. yet we see it every day

Bullet proof vests? PUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS BACK ON THE WALLS OF YOUR SCHOOLS. Thou shalt NOT Kill is a commandment and that WILL have an effect on the mind of them who read it. US took them off about 40 years ago (under Reagan, yet) so how are things going for them since that landmark decision?? Not too good, and that;s when all the crap started to hit the fan

Yes, people are killing because they don't think God disapproves

Canada, overall, has a further left government than the US and has less guns, yet has significantly less crime. Why is that?

I agree with the lawsuit.
Not checking the bag pack and his person was indefensible.
Every public school needs at least one armed police officer on duty the whole school day because of the rigged gun laws in favor of the evil gun owners and the NRA.

Lawsuits is now the only option. ( and applicable criminal charges ).
Money talks. Common sense walks.
Taxpayers will foot the bill for the lawsuits. This is insanity. hang the murderers. Not checking backpacks is ground for prosecution?/ Give me a break.. BLAME THE MURDERER..

I looked at the WIKI record of school shootings. I am convinced that the mass shootings are the result of demonic activity, and demon possession. What person in their right mind will murder their MOTHER and THEN go shoot and kill 26 more innocents children?? Demons can enter a person if and when they are stoned, or 'high' or playing a murderous video game.. and the mind is in a fantasy state. It can happen when a person is listening to satanic type music.. and I believe this is directly related because the stuff related to this was not in use 50 years ago, alth9ough much of the music was definitely doing damage.

Music that encourages rebellion in the home, against all authority, and etc went big in the 70's and gave birth to the wave of bloodshed we see today

'Experts' are claiming there is no influence, cuz not all who listen to Black Sabbath will go kill the their kids.. but some will.. The devil is also real and is running his playbook as we speak. His goal is to steal your joy, your happiness, your success, and then destroy your home and your life, and then kill you..

Let me close this with one example of a false teacher who has the blood of millions on his hands. He was a PhD in psychology.. His name: Timothy Leary.. and hundreds of thousands of those who bought his baloney are still messed up today, if they are still with us. Having all gotten high on LSD.

Beware of them who whisper pretty words, and tell you what you want to hear.

True. but if you want to take someone out, a knife works very well and it makes no noise. Dunno if our government is further left, but it is very soft on crime. If you shoot someone dead who kicks in your front door, and they are wielding even a machete, YOU will be charged..even though you were defending your life.. That is insanity. We are dumber than dirt up here, cuz we re elected this moron twice... and he pees away our tax dollars, and is a moral reprobate, AND a Marxist.. and there is no doubt on that one

Canadians just have more respect for human life. The numbers prove this

I mentioned Prince George, where a lot of folks own rifles, and shotguns.. their hom' rate is still way less than down south.

Yes, people are killing because they don't think God disapproves
Debate if you want, but 'for fear of the Lord, men depart from evil.' Take that to your psyche prof and tell him he can take that to the bank

People killing people think there are no eternal consequences.. they also have no Fear of God, or even an ounce of belief on him. I also Speak of a healthy fear.. America no longer has this, and I include Canada too

Mans effort to reduce crime are a total fail. the numbers prove this

'pushing' my religion? Your call.. I think I am telling the truth

I agree that Canadians have more respect for life
Thats why i said less Americans.
The covid rate of death is more then 3 times greater in the United States then in Canada.

I have said it for years before Covid and before Trump was elected - the United States is the dumbest advanced country. The country only survives because of the intellectually elite and enlightened ( poliitically and scientifically and freedom loving )segment.
The majority of the rest would be behind many South American countries and living under a dictatorship.

Black Sabbath kicks *** & LSD is one of the least harmful drugs out there.

You should check out the lyrics to "After Forever" and/or "Lord of This World".

You literally have no idea what you're talking about here. Sabbath and LSD are WAAAAY down the list of reasons we are spiraling out of control.
