I havent worked it out yet but I wanted to do something different with the draft order for season 7

i feel like some owners have gotten either terrible(20ks) or awesome(gerry) luck when it comes to the draft order....id like to break the random drawing into either 2(1-12 and 13-24) or 3 groups(1-8, 9-16, and 17-24)...based on adp, you will be put into one of the groups and assigned a random slot from that group

thoughts?

for example...

20ks has drafted 18, 21, 6, 15, 18, 18 for an adp of 16

gerry has drafted 9, 2, 1, 9, 13, 6 for an adp of 6.7


20ks adp would most likely put him in the 1-12 group while gerrys adp would probably put him in the 13-24 group

I don't think I would add that wrinkle. This is the average points by draft position... I don't think top half or bottom half impacts the draft too much, so would be an unnecessary complication in my opinion. It is really just who drafts there.

My adp is 21.25, but I like the total randomness that you could be anywhere. I always thought choosing closer to 1 or closer to 24 was somewhat odd.

The last two winners were first pick (who narrowly beat the 24th pick) and 23rd pick. Also, if you don’t like where you are you are allowed to trade your draft position. That being said, I will play no matter what you decide to do.

Also, this is what I am leaning towards for "evals" this Savage.

Each Sunday night during the draft, once post draft, once at the halfway mark and once right before the playoffs (so probably 5 in total), I will host an online happy hour / video chat open to the league. I will probably "interview" 1-2 coaches at the beginning, riff on what our observations are, then open it up to public questions, gripes, comments.

I go to bed early and moved to the east coast this year, so probably like 8-10 PM ET is what I am planning.

Winners have been 23, 4, 15, 12, 20 and 1. Runner ups have been 19, 14, 12, 3, 24, 23.

what about what we do in the ODL? Owners share preference in terms of closer to 1 or 24 and the tie break (I believe) is last seasons performance. I agree position doesn't matter in terms of performance and I think you could maybe argue picking towards the end of the 1st round is an advantage, with 2 picks in the top 30ish and a 3rd pick in the early 30's. As someone who's picked in the back half of the draft 5 of 6 times, the variety would be interesting to me.

BTW at least twice I traded up for higher draft position. The first Savage I drew #23, Ash traded his #9 with me...

absolutely agree the champ could come from any draft spot...this was more about mixing it up for unlucky owners getting stuck in the same spots almost every year...probably overthinking it...not to mention making more work for myself
