so far Old Joe has done a pretty good job rallying the democracies

i heard Switzerland is locking up russian money, can you believe it

restoring frayed alliances

that is the prime foreign policy plank in bagchucker's platform

yes i give credit to trump demanding that europe pay more
2/28/2022 12:21 AM
now the question is, when Bad Vlad put his nukes on high alert, what did Old Joe do

2/28/2022 12:22 AM

This is a very common talking point, but it's actually not true!

If you look at defense spending in NATO countries sans the US, it actually declined during the Trump admin (not in terms of total, but the rate of increase declined). In 2017, non-US NATO spending went up 5.9%. In 2019 and 2020, it was around 3.5%. In 2021, it went up to 4.1%.

you're saying trump didn demand it

it is just negligible one way or the other and how many and which countries paid more.
2/28/2022 2:57 AM
from 3.8 in 1960 to 1.3 in 2015 is not negligible

i would call it substantial

2/28/2022 3:06 AM
im saying from 2005 lets say it goes up a little comes down goes up and always stays in a relative range
2/28/2022 3:11 AM
Trump did demand it, but the rate of increase declined as the Trump Presidency went on and it increased more when Biden took office.

From the Trump narrative, you would expect non-US NATO spending to increase more as he was in office and demanded more and decline when Biden took office. That's not what happened. It's actually the opposite.
