Do we need to reconsider the ABBA start to the draft format? I am still inclined to think it's necessary because (despite my own utter failure with Lebron) I think there are a handful of guys at the top that would give too much of an advantage in an ABAB format. But there seems to be growing evidence that the best place to pick is in the 18-24 range.
Great question. If not too complicated I wonder if "ABABBABA..." would work, since it still provides a bump to late pickers compared to straight snake but not as large.
I'm looking at this years' draft and trying to game it out a bit to see if top picks would become OP. LeBron/Jokic or LeBron/Hakeem would be pretty scary but fewer top tier guys make it to round 2 than I initially expected. Put another way, the gap between top of the second and bottom of the second is big... but maybe smaller than I thought. The VII draft was broadly similar.
