I'll take the California Angels.

Need to fill the AL East.

Senators have 5 viable players.
And surely there's a Tigers or Red Sox fan out there.

Questions, I have a few:
-Worst to first drafts in 1971, 76ers 2, and 73 in each division, no win minimum needed, right?
-Will the 1974 franchise draft be worst to first based on 1973 record only or cumulative win total from 1970-1973?
-Any limits on trading? (Given the short-term nature of all keepers in this league, one would hope for an active trade market)

I’m not sure I completely follow question #1 so I’m going to answer what I think you asked.

The draft order for 1970 is set. 1971 and forward will be based upon league results. When we hit year 5 the owner and team potentially separate. The owner with the worst record drafts a franchise first and will draft first in the player draft.

No minimum wins. Given the limited number of keepers and limited window for composing a team there is not much incentive to tank. Will someone tank as a strategy? Probably. Will it work? That will play itself out.

The only trade limit is draft picks - current draft plus the next draft.

Let me know if you would like more information.

Couple follow up questions:

1) just so I understand perfectly. In year 5 are franchises reset and we re-draft based on 1974 RL franchises, or do franchises from 1973 remain intact, but we just (potentially) change which franchise we own?

2) with the AL East the only division not filled, does that mean AL teams are the only ones available to be selected? Are SF, SD, MON now off the board? Or can they still be selected?

Year 5 is just like Year 1 except franchises will be drafted versus first come, first served. In Year 5 you will be able to roster 5 players from the franchise you draft.

Any team you would like to have is still on the board. If the divisions do not balance all by themselves then there will be a realignment. Everyone currently in the league will stay put as it was first come, first served.

Right, but are you drafting rosters based on how 74 Sim league finished, or how they stood in mlb real life.

League results. For the sake of discussion let’s say your 1974 team had the worst record in the league. You have the first pick in the 1975 franchise draft and 1975 player draft.

You could choose to keep the same franchise you had in 1974. But you are not keeping the 1974 team / players. You will be able to roster 5 players from the 1975 real life franchise.

Sig, you're mentioning a 1975 franchise draft, but year five will be 1974. So we will have a 1974 franchise draft. Please confirm.

BOSTON RED SOX
Carl Yasztremski has the best 1970 hitting season in the league. With him and Reggie Smith, you have a great start to your offense.

DETROIT TIGERS
Mickey Lolich has monster starting pitcher seasons ahead in this stretch, and hitters like Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Al Kaline, and others till have nice gas in the tank.

WASHINGTON SENATORS
Grab an early draft pick, and you'll also get a couple more booming years from Frank Howard, you could draft a nice left side of the infield for four years with Ed Brinkman and Aurelio Rodriguez, and Joe Coleman has a couple great starting pitching seasons you could get.

Correct - 1974. Multitasking is not my friend today.
