A woman in Norway is facing up to three years in prison on criminal hate-speech charges after saying that a man cannot become a lesbian.

Tonje Gjevjon, a lesbian filmmaker and actress, was informed on Nov. 17 that she was under investigation for speaking out against prominent Norwegian activist Christine Jentoft on Facebook. Jentoft is a transgender female that often refers to herself as a lesbian mother.

Nothing in that speech was hateful. When you can be jailed for speaking a truth, you are living under a dictatorship. I see more hate speech uttered in here, than in that case

I agree that people shouldn't be put in jail for saying "hateful" things. Government shouldn't be involved in criminal stuff there. It's a 1A issue

I'm guessing you believe that a man can be a lesbian. Fine that's your right.
It's utterly absurd that we are expected to play along with whatever fantasy a person's mental illness manifests or be punished...

he has repeatedly said he was retiring, and yet he is still here. That is my (admittedly) very minor problem.

Ever heard of the phrase "trans women are women?"

Don't strawman the argument. People aren't saying that men can be lesbians, they would say that trans women can be lesbians, and people who support trans rights don't believe that trans women are men.
