41 D rating for Davion Mitchell is beyond absurd. Not sure how, but something really needs to be changed with defensive ratings.
Out of curiosity, what do you think his rating should be and why?
If Harden is a 72 or 79, he is easily a 115. :)

Seriously though, he's one of the top on-ball defenders in the league. I think he's safely in the 75-80 D range.

*Just for clarity, I'm talking about Davion Mitchell and not Donovan Mitchell.

Sacramento was a bad defensive team this year and Mitchell's defensive rating wasn't good.

Ask Steph if he thinks those defensive ratings accurately represent Mitchell's defense.

Through 2 games, Steph is averaging 29ppg with an eFG% of 59.8%, which is really good. On the other hand, Steph is averaging 5 TO/G, which is bad......

Steph has missed 18 3s through 2 games and is shooting 33% from behind the arc, down from 43% in the regular season.

Okay but you are talking qualitatively and WiS doesn’t have that luxury. They have to import data and then make use of it. So what publicly available data can you point to or aggregate that not only demonstrates that Mitchell is the defender you want him to be that but doesn’t also screw someone else up.

We all want it to be better but publicly available defensive one number metrics generally suck right now; they get lots of people right and miss on a bunch. WiS is a data customer so you can’t really fault them.

It’s a problem no one in the professional stats community (at least not working for a team) has been able to solve and you jokers think a game company is going to be able to solve it? Lol.
