Every time another user I like resorts to tanking games a little piece of me dies. Good for rc though, I wish him a lot of luck. He had a great run. I won't be back for season two though. This strategy is probably the most annoying thing on the site.

Important game 7 this afternoon between chewy3344 and benhoidal. If chewy wins, then raggedclaws is our 2023 BOWIS champion! If benhoidal wins, then he stays alive and whoever does better in the conference finals, between benhoidal and raggedclaws, is the champion.

I completely agree. It’s a major reason why I’m done with the ODL. Just seems like it’s hard to compete without just resting people. Imo resting during playoff games should be an 8 point deduction. One playoff series worth of points should be enough to convince people that resting people during the playoffs isn’t worth it.

Meh it’s all bullshit. It’s just moral rot in the community. People shouldn’t need rules or penalties in place to tell them not to be an *******. I’m not exactly the most successful user on WiS but I’ve done okay. I’ve rested players in the playoffs (I pretty much never do in the regular season outside of scrubs) I believe three times in my career on this site. Each time was when I thought I could still field a competitive team. Iirc in those games:
I won one
I lost in OT
I didn’t do so hot

Maybe I could win more if I did it but it isn’t fair to throw away the entire 82 game season’s worth of results, or the fact that someone overplayed people in previous rounds through exploiting defects in our existing system. It’s trash.

We played what 6 seasons of this and for it to come down to the wire?
I bust my *** to get a bye in the harder division?
A user gets to over tax their players while I have a bye and then they get to invert the rest advantage while I am taxing my guys and they are tossing a game they were the big underdog in anyway?
They get to go extra hard in that game seven knowing they are going to tank in the future?
For me personally, it invalidates my entire experience in something I spent the whole year playing. Why would I do this again? Even if we change the rules I have to stare at the league history and remember this trash? F that.

Congratulations to raggedclaws on winning BOWIS 22-23! Most regular season wins and most playoff wins and has a chance to add a title to that list. Very deserving!

Congrats Ragged I think you had the most regular season and playoff wins unlucky to have not won a title.

On the issue of resting players, tanking a game every now and then, etc.... I don't like it either. My suggestion would be that
every team has to have a minimum of say 19,500 minutes.

help me understand the point system. Not that I expect to win the autodraft league, but if you win 2 out of the 6 championships amid 24 owners, that's doesn't get you in top 3? How many points do you get for winning a championship?

I remember in the early days of Savage there was an imbalanced point system. It was heavily weighted toward regular season wins and I suggested to change it to make it equally weighted to playoffs with bonuses for championships and getting all 5 teams in.

playoff win 2
championship 20
6 teams in playoff bonus 20.
ragged, chewy, Rob and Ben all got the 6 team bonus.
