DeBeque, relative value uses overall rating to compare the rating of a player against all other playe' ratings within the same position. So for example, let's say a QB has a rating of 60. Now let's says the highest rated QB is 80 and lowest rated QB is 40.

The QB that is 80 would have a rating of 100.
The QB that is 60 would have a rating of 50.
The QB that is 40 would have a rating of 0.

For new recruits, the recruit relative value calculation is only considering the incoming Freshman within the same position for the calculation.

The reason behind relative value is that overall rating calculations are naturally higher for some positions. There are way more OL and DL with ratings in the 70s and 80s. This is not true for other positions like QB or DB.
