LB26, you seem to be enjoying yourself making up all of these collections, and that's great. I was hoping to stimulate some kind of banter in here about what I thought was an interesting subject. Obviously, you are free to continue doing what you do - no problems here.
The reason I posted what I did (as far as 70-71) is that with the dysfunction within the band, I thought it would have been a minor miracle if they had stayed together just for those two extra years. No way did I (or most people, I think) could imagine them staying together throughout the 70's and into the 80's.
Also, a lot of the tunes that you are selecting (again, to me) are not very well known songs and I think would just constitute "filler" on some of these albums. Like:
Big Barn Bed
Intuition
Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long
Red rose medley
Aisumsson ( I’m Sorry)
Single Pigeon
When The Night
Meat City
These all might be great songs (I don't know - I've never heard any of them) but, I'd venture to say, unless you are really a die-hard, true "all-things-Beatles" fan, I don't think very many other folks have heard of them either. Obviously, I could be wrong.
Also, I didn't do a whole lot of research on this as it was just a whim of an idea, I didn't want to include a lot of McCartney songs that we're co-written by either Linda or Denny Laine since, if the Beatles had stayed together, I don't know if a lot of those songs would have ever even been written or existed. Same goes for the other three guys if they had outside help from someone other than those assiciated with or close to the Beatles.
I could try and come up with a 1972-1975 compilation myself using the criteria I just posted and see what I can come up with. To think they would have gone beyond 1975 I think would be a waste of my time. I just don't see any way they would have ever still been together longer than that.
Great conversation and info! I appreciate you getting into the subject matter. I'd love to hear what a lot of the others would have to say about the subject.
